i know relatively little about his symphonies, since im a pianist ... but I do love his sonatas. The moonlight sonata and the pathetique sonata ... lovely! I couldn't rest till I had learned them =)

Such beautiful music came from such a tormented man...
His life story brings me to tears..
but Beethoven ultimately succeeded in getting what every musician and composer strives to achieve...immortality...

Moonlight Sonata too!

Those two are gems...but i would have to lean toward His symphony #6
and his violin concerto in D, not to mention symphony #5

I agree Symphony 5 is amazing too! I rarely listen to Beethoven's music since I know very little about them...

I don't find them the best symphonies ever, not even in classical literature. That belongs to Bruckner for me. But his sonatas man, they keep me going. I love all of them. So. Much.

Um, Bruckner = love.

I agree, in some respects. Beethoven's symphonies just annoy me most often, though I do have a soft spot for the 8th. The Sonatas however, are wonderful. And don't forget the chamber music! His piano trios are divine. However, I don't really find Beethoven as beautiful as Mozart, and the endless perfect cadences and big sforzandos just make me groan.

yea but he was deaf !

i shall always love his moonlight sonata! 3nodding

Of course, I love this music individualist.

His Symphony 5 & 7.

His Piano sonatas are EPIC .
EPIC = Piano Sonata No. 14, aka Moonlight, especially the 1st and 3rd movements.

Spring Violin Sonata = <3
