It was obvious when you are already reading (or watching) the story...Kei was so protective of Hikari. It means that he is already in love with her.

eek Kei was so pathetic he even addressed Hikari as a "burden" just because he wanted Hikari out of the wrestling game: S-A v.s. Student Council. He wants Hikari out because he doesn't want Hikari to be hurt and he doesn't want her to be underestimated by the Student Council.

And then...time flies, Kei doesn't lose his love for Hikari. It means he was in love with her for a long time ago (since they were kids)... heart

well im pretty sure from their childhood,
have you seen the episode when hikari always gave him present on his birthday and that's where he developed to hikari
and he always care for him, i remember the time when hikari bump her neck on a pole and kei was running like crazy to save him.
and also ikoto was it, yeah, when he invite hikari to his villa and kei was going on his way there nd there was a traffic accident then he run as fast as he can to get there.;....

well is very clear that he likes her from the beginning, when they met..
