So, since there's quite a few music students here, I'm sure you've all done counterpoint at one point in your life or another.
Me, I'm working on a three voice fugue for a class right now, pulling out my hair in the process. Anyone have a similarly awful experience, lol?

I think were just getting into this in theory. Im a freshman music major so im still in the simple stuff, its kind of annoying..

Well, if you're doing Bach Chorales (where most music majors start), you're at least learning about parallel 5ths and Octaves, which of course, are rooted in counterpoint more than harmony!

Aye. I only know the basics too. One of my old music theory teachers tried giving me a crash course on the advanced stuff about 10 years ago and I don't remember any of it. gonk

I remember taking Counterpoint.... AND for our final we had to write a Fugue as well... Yes those were not fun times... I was impressed with my finished product but man...it was rough. Good luck to you!
