Brother Bach wasn't just a brilliant composer, he was a also some kind of a very good theologian. So he didn't only take some biblical texts like other composers, he composed the texts, too. The parts he used were mostly from the bible, but he arranged them new. Main goal of this texts in combination with his great music is to show the gospel of a mercyfull God.

I always used to complain when I was younger that Bach composed violin music as if it were for harpsicord. In hindsight I realize that was simply apart of his genius. The violin has always been a melodic instrument, but Bach was the first to make is both melodic and harmonic. I listen to his fugues, and solo violin sonatas and partitas and am simply amazed. He inspired possible all the greats after him as they either strived to emulate Bach's style or directly oppose it. I've also been researching baroque violins and would love to at some point in my life own one. Four-string cords are much easier with a baroque bow and the violin's sound is much more subdued. Bach is timeless.
