Because of these and other bad experiences, I pretty much don't like anything with tons of hype. I'm glad to finally have a chance to rant about these crazes. The only one of those things I did have anything to do with was POGs. I still have a decent collection of them for Nostalgia's sake.

Glad to be of service. I'm all for giving people ranting spaces, lol.

Hey, now. What did a Trekkie ever do to you? We're some of the most benign fans out there. We're used to being on the fringe and don't try to convert people other than the usual nerds.

Yes, well, cons are a different monster all together. You're going to find scary people no matter what con you go to. The trick is to know security well enough that they'll beat anyone off you before the creepy people even get to you. xd Saves you a lot of trouble and scarring.

Semi-related... a bunch of my friends became fans of "Neil Buchanan and Art Attack" on Facebook, and I thought, "Oh, wow! I remember that show! It was the best!" I even have five videos of the series from years ago.

But then I started to see other products/people/places/etc to become a 'fan' of, and I dumped Art Attack because it didn't measure up to more current obsessions... sad heart
