I must say, I've never been so eager for something like this at all! Eric Ruske, one of the best horn players in the world today (go ahead and look him up, his teacher is/was Dale Clevenger!), is hosting a concert in our city this weekend, and providing a public masterclass to the Youth Symphony members for horn players. I'm getting a lesson with a horn god. ^^ Also, he's hosting one in Las Cruces (1 hour away) which I'm also willing to attend--like killing two birds with one stone right? Being able the opportunity to learn from someone who is so very renown, skilled, in a city like mine, it's a must-take thing. I'm very excited. ;D

Oh I wish I could go. I'm learning the Horn myself. It's soo dented and old. D:
Anyways,
That reminds me of the time I found out who my cranky old piano teacher's teacher was.
I almost died when she told me she was taught by Sergei Rachmoninov.

Same here, with my first piano teacher. She was taught by Bartok. (However, she was downright physically abusive, so I didn't stay with her for long) I need to go back to piano, for my composition now... (I'm currently a harpist, as you can see by my avvie. ^_^)

I was lucky enough to go to the Lake Como Piano Academy in Italy! So I've had masterclasses and even private lessons with Argerich and Fleisher ^^ It's such a good thing for younger musicians to hear from the older and more experienced ones.
