So for a lil while now I've been obsessed with this piercing,
so I've decided to just do it myself.
I dont think it is worth it to go and pay for it frankly :]
soo..
first of all, is there anyone out there that has this piercing?
Ive been looking up a lot of things about it and potential problems with it,
but I really still want to do it!

Right now all I have to put in it is a 16g barbell.. is that going to work for me?
or should I get a curved barbell?
What should I use to pierce it? Im thinking just a plain fat safety pin, or a sewing needle.
What should I use to sanitize the needle/safetly pin? (I was just going to soak it in alchohol)
waht about aftercare? how should I was my mouth out till it heals?
ive herd salt water is goood and ive also heard just plain mouthwash with will be fine..

thats all really I have to ask :]

DO NOT PERFORM ANY PIERCING BY YOURSELF

It is UNSTERILIZED AND RISKY.
Alcohol does NOT Sterilize ANYTHING. Autoclaves are what is used to properly sterilize metal objects/equipment in tattoo and piercing parlours. It removes ALL bacteria, microorganisms, spores and everything that can give you HIV, AIDS, & HEP. A,B&C.

There ARE vein's running through the webbing which connect to your tongue.
You MUST use only HOLLOW needles to perform ANY type of piercing, which is what Professionals possess. It pushes skin neatly out of the way, While sewing and safety pin needles are dull, and cause blunt force when going through.
It will not heal correctly. It will NOT be the proper gauge it should be.

DO NOT PERFORM THIS. I don't CARE if there are stupid teens out there that have, it is NOT right.
A piercer can place the piercing so it does not migrate, reject, hit your salivary glands, rub against your teeth and cause gum erosion, and so many other things.

GO TO A PRO.

Id fully endorse getting it, but only if you get it by a professional. Its a cool piercing and i really like the way it looks on most people

Risks of doing it by yourself... When I got mine done, my piercer told me that if you pierce it too far back, it will hit your salivation glands and you will salivate excessively nonstop... ew. Just pay the $40 and get it done professionally.
