I posted something similar to this in the Chatterbox subforum, but I've decided that not much in there gets attention. wink

Anyways, a slightly different question. In addition to the unusual variants of classics I'd like to find that I'd mentioned in the other post in Chatterbox, I'm in the mood for two things, percussion and violin solos. There's enough out there that I'm quite certain that I've good odds against anyone's suggestion being part of my current collection. With the percussion, I'd like something that's as intriguing on a pair of solid headphones as it is as background music with wine and conversation. On the violin solos, the words "warm" and "deep" would be the best descriptives for what I'm feeling like finding right now.

I'll be doing some large scale music shopping in about another week, so any recommendations would be absolutely wonderful. I'm most grateful!

Thanks!

Pachebal Cannon w/ Piano accompanist.

Phantom of the Opera (I have no idea if they actually have a piece like this O.O)

Elgar's Cell Concerto (They should have a Violin Version, if not it's pretty to listen to X3)

I can't think of anything else at the moment, but try looking at Suzuki Method books, they have a lot of solo pieces in there of course, they also sell books with Piano accompanist.

As for percussion, try looking at the Slumdog Millionaire soundtrack, I think it has a lot of drumming to it. But I'm not sure if the music sheets for that is out yet.

Also a popular violin song is Bach's Prelude

Hmm.. I don't know much with percussions, and I'm mostly a piano person, but I suppose I can lend an opinion.

Chaconne - Vitali (the vid below has piano accompaniment, but is beautiful with or without accompaniment)

You people are marvelous. Thank you both so much. I'll keep an eye out if anyone has any other suggestions, but I've got a decent list to start on. I checked out the links and liked what I heard.
