Alexander O'Callahan. A man of God some said; others called him a blasphemous heathen. Both were right, technically.
Alexander was once a righteous, holy man. A man that served God. A man that helped those in need. A man who would happily give his soul for the life of another...even one that was full of hatred and evil. He was noticed for his piety and invited to join the ranks of a particular organization. These church-dwellers were not the average, everyday priests and such; these were what some called "Warriors of God Almighty."
A group, not of self-righteous hypocrites and oppressors, but of humble, mortal men and women who believed that God needs help. They believe that God shouldn't have to clean up all the messes. No, they believe that humanity should fend for itself every so often. For this reason, they fight against evil. Rather, they fight against what they consider evil. However, they are not the self-righteous bible-thumpers; more of a group of border-line zealots that try to make their God's work more easy, though nothing more (or less) than that.
This group, Zealot Judas, believes in helping their God. They believe in doing good deeds for others while not asking for anything in return. They also believe in the natural goodness of humanity, hence the reason they ask no fee. In fact, the only way they support themselves is via the donations given by the grateful few (the very large and generous donations). By doing so much good for so many people, the group has been granted the kindness of mankind. The people show their gratitude often. Whether it be by allowing them free meals at a particular eatery, giving discounts (even occasionally a 100% off discount), or simply giving them money out of the blue.
Zealot Judas is loved by all. Those with black hearts (which are now few and far between) no longer hate, but fear. They fear the powerful Warriors of the Almighty God. They fear the Zealot Judas.
Alexander was invited to join the Zealots. His good will, his natural tendency to help his fellow man, made him a prime candidate. He was one of the very, very few pure souls left. The black hearts are dying, but the pure souls are only just now resurfacing. This era is an era of love, of peace, of mankind's greatest triumph over its greatest enemy; itself.
However...evil can never be destroyed. For as long as Good exists in this world, so shall Evil. There can be no light without shadow, nor shadow without light. And so, as the Zealots came to be, so too did their shadow; the Judas Sect.
These heathens worshiped the figure of Judas; not as the man who killed himself, as Satan tormented him, for following God's plan, but as the Great Betrayer, who willingly betrayed Jesus Christ, acting as a servant to Satan, and was punished by God into killing himself.
For the longest time, the shadow of Zealot Judas was not known. They merely caused the occasional problem which the Zealots took care of, such as when a streak of murders happen. They blacken the mind of an otherwise normal man or woman, forcing him/her into Sin. They can control the black of hearts. Greed, lust, wrath, sloth, envy, gluttony, pride; all seven of the Seven Deadly Sins, all manipulable by the Sect.
Unfortunately, not even the Zealots are immune to Evil. They all have strong wills, all of them fully able to fight temptation and manipulation. All except one. Alexander O'Callahan.

This is a story I'm playing with at the moment, inspired partly by an avatar I created on a whim.
I realize how rough this rough draft is, so I don't need any comments on how it's somehow confusing in the way it's written, etc. I'll be proofreading and fixing it once I assemble the plot better.
