I agree that the current system being proposed in Congress is nothing brilliant and that single payer universal healthcare like they have in Australia or Canada is the way to go.

@LB - I don't understand what you're saying? We are talking about healthcare in general, not the proposed measure in washington?

@Danski - I'd prefer something to that of the UK or France. Although I don't know much about Australia's system, as far as Canada, I don't think many Americans would be for that, all we hear about [at least where I'm from] is how poor it is.

This is for both DanskiWolf and RainbowField Mouse to read (or anyone else too). This article is pretty long but it talks about Healthcare in other countries (including Government run) so you might learn something new (I did).

It's a biased publication. Michael Tanner is also not for social security, he'd much rather invest it into stocks, and he's against many other "socialist" programs in the US.

No nation's haalthcare is perfect, but America's is downright terrible. The same loons who are calling government run healthcare "socialist" would have argued the same thing about social security/welfare decades ago and maybe even public fire departments a century ago. And these same people can write up heavily biased articles against other country's healthcare, but they negate to mention how SCANDALOUS it would be in those countries if people were bled of every cent they had by the healthcare system.

Tell me, were you this eager to verify Bush's birth certificate?

Danski, I agree. But, I've never been a party hardliner. Most "conservatives" don't know that universal health care is as old as Otto von Bismark. I make no apologies for my support of this apostasy to conservatism.

Mouse, no, the whole conversation originated from discussion of Obama's proposals on health care. Maybe you interpret that to mean health care in general, but the Congressional proposals I addressed are a big part of why this is even being talked about. So, sorry buddy, you're missing the mark on this one.

No worries, mate. You always manage to present substantive arguments, free from the hysteria and name-calling of the teabag brigade.
