Just some good roleplaying and writing rules, or rather, suggestions...because everybody loves a literate and, or creative, roleplayer!
1. Creativity and detail.
For starters, try to be creative. Sure, you can say. "Alec walked to the store and said hello to the lady at the counter'.
But you could also make it nicer by adding a little detail, such as-
'Alec was feeling a little down, but as he caught the lady's eyes, he suddenly felt just a little bit better..'
Add characters thoughts, feelings, and surroundings, or something in there, and you'll find yourself making longer, more interesting posts.
2. PLEASE, for the love of all that is holy, USE QUOTATIONS!
If someone speaks, you denote it by putting quotations around the words they speak. This is first grade stuff here.
"Hello!" exclaimed John. "How are you?"
Because if you said, hello exclaimed John. How are you? It doesn't make quite as much sense..
3. This isn't the most important grammar rule, but it is one that people tend to miss....
When directly addressing someone, use a comma. For example....
"Hello, David."
Some people would argue that we don't have such a pause in real life, but if you think about it, it makes sense for the comma to be there because there is a sort of pause, a seperation of the address from the person being addressed.
4. This probably should have been rule number one...but ah well...
NO TEXT TALK! If I see it, I will warn you. That's not illiteracy...that's just...wrong.
5. DO use punctuation to the best of your ability. I understand that some people are a bit shy on grammar rules, the uses of commas, semi-colons, and the like...but periods, question marks, and exclamation points [at the very least] aren't that difficult to put in. In fact, it's rather ridiculous not to have them.
6. You can make whatever non-sexcapading plot you like, but I do recommend you try not to steal plots from others. Just make something original and see what happens, but make sure you put it in the right section of the guild! : )

Yea, it is, but it doesn't seem to help much now does it? There's still tons of people who roleplay illiteratly. It's annoying that thy won't pay attention when you tell them how to roleplay right...

This isn't so much how to roleplay, as helpful suggestions on improving one's roleplaying. Besides which, not all members check the main forums [although they should], but as they don't, there's a better chance they'll take a peek in here as opposed to out there.
It can't hurt. -shrugs-
