Spanish Lesson 1: Introductions

Spanish is spoken in many different ways in all parts of the Hispanic countries. This causes a lot of confusion for those who are learning the language. You will be learning the most basic and common Spanish that is understood by all Latino people.
We will be starting off with learning basic greetings and goodbyes such as…
Hola (o-la) Hello
Buenos días (bweh-nohs dee-ahs) Good morning Good afternoon

Buenas tardes (bweh-nahs tarr*-dez) Good afternoon Good evening

Buenas noches (bweh-nahs no-chez) This can be said to greet or say goodbye in the night time. But it literally means Good night(s).

Adiós (ah-deeohs) Goodbye

**Hasta mañana (ahs-tah ma-nya-nah) Till tomorrow
Hasta luego (ahs-tah loo-wegoh) Till next time

Now that you know the basic greetings, let’s learn basic intros…
¿Cómo Estás? (coh-moh ehs-tahs) How are you? How you doing?

Mi nombre es… (me nohm-brre ehs...) My name is…

Me llamo… (meh yah-moh…) My name’s…

Now let’s put them into a sentence where you are introducing yourself…
Hola. ¿Cómo Estás? Me llamo Omayra.

And for all the slow ones out there, Omayra is my name, so use your name when practicing. biggrin
*rr- the r’s in every word is rolled (kind of like a cat purr)
**H- the h at the beginning of every word is silent
