well i was thinking about religion (what else) and i thought if one religion had to be true it would be Buddhism not for the gods they worship but the journey they go on life through life reaching a higher plain of realization and inner peace, the fact that they will never fight in the name of their gods and the fact that it always has been a fantasy to be reincarnated as a fat Australian house cat.

soooooooo. If you had to pick a religion to be true what would you be.

Prolly the Jewish religion, just because they've had it rough and aren't really connected so much to god as they are to their cultures.

I would have to choose the Asguardian pantheion. In short, Odin, Thor, Asguard and Valhalla, that stuff. I mean, how cool would it be to do nothing but eat, drink, and beat the living crap out of eachother! Its like ancient Fight Club, but without the scheams to destroy commercialism(which i'm totaly down with)!

to me it's more a philosophy
but i would pick buddism

I think you should specify first what are you searching for: a religion (which is a system of dogmatical beliefs) or a lifestyle/life's philosophy.

If I had to choose a religion for myself I'd pick the same I was raised in - catholic - because I don't want needless arguing with people around me. But I don't have to go to church etc. I think the most important part is what you believe deep inside. I'm also trying to part my philosophical views from my everyday life but it's still very hard.

And yes, buddhism is a fine way of life. Still if I'll declare myself as a buddhist I can simply imagine how people around me will react.
I want to stay neutral. Showing off with my mentality is not in good taste.

Little as I know, Jews are accepting the whole Old Testament, so they are connected to god a lot.
Still their traditional view on god is a lot different than Christians. God is not supposed to be your only omnipotent father who knows everything and the best thing you can do is simply obey. You can ask god, you can change your destiny, you can have a dialogue with him - he's more like a partner than a father. See Franz Rosenzweig's philosophy of dialogue for example. 3nodding

I'm positive I wouldn't want to be Christian or Jewish... The God in the Bible is scary o_O
I don't wanna get on his bad side... I think I would want Buddhism to be true if I had no choice I guess.
