Yes, because I play bassoon in concert band as an elective,(bass part in almost anything). mrgreen

Well there's this thing called a bass line and if its not there, the music kind of sucks but then without anyone part it will sound bad.

No instrument is superior, or better, to or than another. If you think about it, a majority of music includes all including bass, tenor, alto, and soprano instruments. You can't thoroughly compare instruments with totally different sounds, properties, and qualities.
