As disturbing as this was, I've noticed that it's part of a pattern that every nation/state/people must follow if they are to evolve into something better. Look at the 17th century Englishmen. They believed in witchcraft, they burned books, they burned people. Look at the Puritans in New England, they had the Salem witch trials. Both cases happened in countries with people that eventually turned into a modern democratic society. I'm not saying this will definitely turn Africa into a democratic continent eventually, but it's not wrong to speculate that there is a possibility for that. Africa is the least socially developed continent (excluding Antarctica) because of the way she was so divided among the imperial powers back in the 19th century. If the rest of the world wants Africa to turn out to be a democracy, we'd better keep a watch and be the helping hand for her if she needs it. This time is one of the most important times to be careful as we guide her out of that black chaos she's caught (or we caused) herself in.
