well, title is self explanatory, what is the most hilarious or just plain compelling argument for atheism that you know of?

heres some of the best I know of:

"I contend that we are both atheists. I just believe in one fewer god than you do. When you understand why you dismiss all the other possible gods, you will understand why I dismiss yours."
- Stephen Roberts

"Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil?
Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?"
- Epicurus

"What can be asserted without proof can be dismissed without proof."
-Christopher Hitchens

I don't really think there's an argument for atheism so much as there's a multitude of arguments against theism, if that makes sense. I can't really assert that God does not exist, but I can sure disprove the hell out of the concept.

Here's a list you might be interested in: http://www.godlessgeeks.com/LINKS/GodProof.htm

my favorites are these three, though they are just trolling things.

-Can god make a stone he cannot lift
-How does god know he is omniscient
-Fact cat says -insert reasonable thing here- is a fact and whatever fact cat says is a fact -insert a cat here-

I liked two Richard Dawkins said on Ted.com.

"Creationism is a idea that lies to it's self, It says that The universe is so complex that there must be a creator, but wouldn't that creator be too complex to handle without the forgiving of sins, listening to prayers and favoring our side of wars part."

"An atheist is someone who feels about Yahweh, the way any christian feels about Thor or Baal or the Golden Calf. We are all atheists about most gods that humanity has ever believed in, some of us just go one god further."

Quite simply stating the obvious is enough for me:
The universe is made up of matter and the energy that constitutes it. Anything which can manipulate matter and energy must itself be made of matter and energy, and cannot be something outside matter and energy.

A creator, in the ID/Creationist sense, by definition, is outside and before matter and energy. Such a being is a manifest impossibility. Until we encounter something along the lines of 'pre-existium' it is utterly absurd to posit the existence of a creator seriously.

I actually can see why a religious person would believe in one God instead of zeus...
You see, God is a spiritual being, therefore if you feel a spiritual connection with him then you have all the proof you need for his existence.

I like pretty much any of the arguments that TheoreticalBullshit presents. All of his videos are pretty powerful at utterly destroying theistic claims. If you haven't checked them out before, you should. Here's an appetizer.

The most compelling argument I've ever seen is platypi. No intelligent being would create something that stupid looking.

Hmmm I think it's hard to throw any one-liner arguments that would sound very compelling, especially to any theist. The Roberts one is nice, but most theists I know would just say "But my God is different!! He [insert generic argument for respective religion here]"
The Epicurus argument is one of the oldest and most classic ones! smile However... a lot of Christians I know would respond to it something like this: "God doesn't prevent all evil because he loves us all and allows us free will"
And I actually really like the Hitchens one smile Though... some theists would assert that their religion does indeed have "proof"
I wish there was some ultimate one-liner that could just convert people with ease Lol.
Oh and I really enjoy TheoreticalBullshit, Mini. =]

OK, I actually found an argument for atheism:
whats-his-names razor: The simplest answer is usually the right one
Therefore you have atheism:
nothing -> universe; or religion
nothing -> God -> universe

All the others can be classified as either:
1) Bigots who are just making fun of religion
or
2) People who have valid arguments, but don't really understand how spirituality works (example: Why don't you believe in Thor?)

You're thinking of Occam's Razor, just in case you were wondering. 3nodding
