Nobody else looked at the e-zine? crying

I did but everyone already stated what I would say about it. And at the moment, I don't want to go back and look at it due to the fact that I have my contacts in instead of my glasses. If I were to go back and look at it right now, I would complain on how all the colors were jumping out at me to ninja attack me, because that is what my contacts do to me when I'm on the computer with them xp

Wow great feedback!

I agree that a vertical layout like A List Apart is a good idea. It accomodates a lot more text based content.

I was thinking that I'd like the tutorials people posted a long time ago to go on the site. I'll make the threads into a sort of article so they can be on the site.

My idea for the navigation that I thought up awhile ago was:
Main - I was thinking that we could have a dynamic menu along one side that changes depending what page you are on. If you're on the main page, it could list the articles and that would make it easier to find them. The home page you see when you first go to the site could be a feature article or something!
Projects (if we do collaborative projects) - menu could have each project listed.
Contests - each month's contest, menu would have months listed
Resources - menu would have Tutorials (the page would come up with each listed that we've ever had, then you pick from that page), Articles (from each month's issue, if we want to organize them I think that would be helpful), Books and Links (from Forum), Hints and Tips (web design, portfolio, graphic design), and Glossary.
Members could be the last section, have each group of people (if we wanted to try to have everyone in a particular group) listed and chose from there.

Phew. Just some ideas. Simple is good. XD

Okay, my crazy week is over, so back to thinking about this website thing.

Ideas for site structure
GhoSt, I'm just going to say what I'd like to have, and you can tell me how possible it is with b2evo. I can do bits with databases on my own if I have to.

  • site is basically made up of articles and members
  • each article has certain attributes:
    • author - which is the member who wrote the article
    • issue
    • topic
    • content

  • I'd like to be able to input article content through a browser based editor, and set the other attributes of it through that too, if possible. Or even better, allow members to input articles, and have them placed somewhere until I can approve them.
  • I want each article to be able to be displayed on a separate page of course, with the author linking to the author's member page.
  • each member also has attributes:
    • name(s)
    • occupation
    • (design related) skills
    • location
    • website(s)
    • short bio
    • 2x thumbnails and large versions of samples
    • photo/artwork of themselves, or their Gaia avatar

  • I'd like members to be able to fill out a form with the above fields, which then needs to be approved by me or another admin before being able to be viewed on the site

Thats all I got so far... ah crap, that doesn't look like something b2evo can do... looks like I'll have to write the database stuff myself to get it how I want it =_= I know how to do most of it, just need to work out some of the details... and GhoSt, I need you to set up a database user for me!!!!!

Silver: I like a lot of those ideas 3nodding I'm going to try and get this backend stuff up first, and then we can work out the design side of things. I'm thinking of using the banner I made for the home page, or something similar to that... what do you think?
