The Eastern Air Temple is one of the four temples of the Air Nomads, and one of the two, the other being the Western Air Temple, which exclusively housed female Airbenders.

Elena took one last look at the temple. It had been her home her entire life. She had never been anywhere else. Now she was leaving this place. She had been preparing for this for days. Everything she needed was on Mai. "Come on. Let's go see the rest of the world," she said to her sky bison. Mai and Elena rose and left the temple.
Argent looked to the sky, a familiar face. Was this girl leaving as well? She guessed so. She patted Suta on the back, making him whoop loudly. The Sky Bison carried what little she needed, herself and her boomerang. She smiled, "Up!" She whooped, and Suta followed the command. They were off. She smiled, feeling great cold wind brushing her face. She looked around. Where to go? She looked down as they ascended. "C'mon Suta. To Ba Sing Sei!"

((Finally, someone else is going to be posting in Ba Sing Sei... sorry random intrusion mrgreen ))
Zero stood outside the Eastern Air Temple. It was here that he and the great avatar Aang met a very old and wise guru by the name of Pathik. From him they both learned about chakra and the opening of the third eye. Aang failed to complete his training but Zero was determined on his try. Passing with flying colors, he reached a state of great power. Not like the Avatar State but its effects on his firebending mimicked avatar control.
Those times were gone now and he could only feel the spark of nostalgia as he peered off the mountain side. "The great avatar Aang did his all to save the world from the devastation of what occurred here. I will not standby as it happens again." He made his way to Omashu.
