NEW POETRY!
=]] I've written quite a bit lately in an effort to expand my poetry portfolio for some sort of scholarship so these next couple poems are a little rough and unpolished so critique is greatly appreciated! Please tell me what you think!
Paradise of Strangers
Well met in public places
New smiles on new faces
Conversation of the newest crazes
And I'm in the Paradise of Strangers
Here and now you never knew me
Possibilities of what I could be
I have control of the reality you see
When I'm in the Paradise of Strangers
I am a skilled musician
I am talented with the violin
I am in an orchestra, Siberian
In the Paradise of Strangers
I am a world-wide sight seer
Returning home from over seas
I have met all that my eyes can see
In the Paradise of Strangers
I am a CEO
My company has only up to go
And you can't say I'm lying, you'll never know
While in the Paradise of Strangers
I tell you my real name with a smile
And still you stay and chat a while
With my number, you depart in style
From the Paradise of Strangers.
Insomnia
It's 4am and I'm still awake.
My mind wanders.
Worries plague me
Fears of future haunt me
Passing fantasies delight me
I'm still awake.
Now I'm a princess
I take my destiny in my own hands
I don't wait around for a prince to save me
I fly free of shackles
I'm still awake.
Now I am a fierce warrior
I stand by for no one
I travel alone, independent
And eventually soften to love
I'm still awake.
I am the ocean
I am the sound of the crashing wave
I am the ebb and flow
I'm still...
I am the color purple
I am the falling rain
I am the loud beeping sound
I am the neon flash that reads
6:30...
I'm waking up.
My Savior
I can hear you out there, like the whispering wind through trees
Just barely audible,
Like you don't want to be heard.
I can see you out there, like the baby dear disappearing behind trees, catching glimpses of you.
Just barely visible,
Like you don't want to be found.
I can feel you there, just as bare as the sunshine kissing my skin.
Just barely tangible,
Like you don't want to be felt.
But I can hear you
I can see you
I can feel you.
And I will follow you until your way is clear.
I will cling to faith alone.
Then I will be able to hear you, like a clear choir of angels.
Joyously raucous,
Like you could never be ignored.
Then I will see you, like the dazzling clarity of crystal edges.
Beautifully pure,
Like you could never disappear.
And I will feel you like strong arms embracing me.
Righteous and true,
Like you could never let me go. |

Jazz Man
The music poured from the piano
Like a cup of steaming Chai tea
Sweet, spicey, warms me to the core
Fills me to the brim, then flows over.
Music is my sustenance.
Play on Jazz man, play on.
Choices
Everyone has a choice
Everyone has control
You choose to be happy
You choose to be sad
You choose to give in, give up, get out
You choose your destiny
You choose to allow others to influence you
Or you choose to remain steadfast in your beliefs
You choose to win or lose.
Even life its self is a choice.
Do you choose it?
Ode to Sunshine
I rise to you.
I bare my flesh to you.
I lay out for you limbs spread for you.
Cherishing your warm kisses
Lusting for your touch.
At night I yearn for you.
The moon lends its' light from you.
I yield to you
Despite your care I know your danger,
And still I worship you.
I mourn for you.
Because when you're gone the world knows it.
Skies weep for you
And clouds part to let you shine.
I so desire you.
I bow to you.
You sit high as a king
In the summers I celebrate you
Swimming, laughing, glorifying you, praising your work.
I crave you.
During long, cold winters
I dream of you.
Wishing you'll return to me again
And warm all that you touch.
I love you.
Center of the Universe
You say I'm not the center of the universe
That the world doesn't revolve around me.
But since you don't live in my world
I respectfully disagree.
In my world I'm at the center
I am the rise and fall of the sun.
I am the flow of time
I am the only one.
So if you want to be with me
You'll be a revolving star
Because when I enter your world
I'll know just where you are.
You'll be at the center of it all
You'll be the coming and going of dawn
The ticking of seconds gone
You'll be the only one. |

Two New Poems
Questions Left Unanswered
How could you leave me?
I mean how could you leave me here?
How could you of all people?
How could you?
I swear to God, you were fine the last time I saw you.
I visited everyday.
Why the hell did you leave me?
Who do you think you are?
Hurting me like this?
Abandoning me like this?
Leaving me like this?
And I never got a ******** chance to say goodbye.
How could you do this to me?
Don't you realize what you've done?
Don't you see how weak I am?
I can't take this desperation.
So why would you do this to me?
Don't you know I love you?
Didn't you know how many people loved you?
How many people cared?
How many people you would hurt by doing this?
By leaving us?
Why did it have to be you?
Why did you have to die?
Loss
When you died, you took me with you.
There is a hole in my chest
Gaping, wide, empty.
I feel abandoned, neglected, broken.
When you died, you took me with you.
You took a chunk of my being
A handful, of who I am.
I feel raw, unhealing, hollow.
When you died, you took me with you.
Nothing I could ever do will bring you back
Or make me whole again.
I feel hopeless, despairing, vacant.
When you died, you left me behind
Wondering how I could make it without you
Unsure of how to deal with the pain.
I feel confused, wounded, pathetic.
When you died, I kept you with me
I'll keep you in my heart
Forever in my memories
I feel better, comforted, optimistic
