In numbers killed, yes.
However, Stalin killed his opponents in boring ways, in that even your typical gangster thug could kill.
Unacceptable, yes, just like every other death.
But Hitler actually aimed at annihilating an entire group (as well as as several others), and he was almost close. But not only that, he also tortured his victims in the most inhumane ways possible.
Not many people have the balls to do what happened in the holocaust. Not even some of the Nazi's themselves. Some required help from a psychologist to carry these horrible deeds out.
It's because of this, is why Hitler is more feared than Stalin.
That, and no one cares for communists.
