Sarcasm not required; I was looking for valid, and intelligent, answers to my valid questions. I also am wondering if everyone on FA is actively engaging in the fine practice of price gouging....

For example,50$ was the minimum Estimate someone gave me for if I wanted my Gryphon Fursona, Bakher done. And a lot of the "artists" sample work seems to be XXX rated stuff. weird, huh?

in short, I have two questions:
Why is most of FA seem to be porn artists?
Why are all the prices insanely high?

Answers:
1. Because porn is the best selling product no matter what the genre. In fact, it is the main reason you have all the internet capabilities you have today.
2. The prices are high for artists who are good. So, to say that all prices are insanely high is not accurate. However, MOST artists charge a high price because people will pay high prices for quality work. If you don't want to pay top dollar for something then shop around. I'm sure there are thousands (or more) of artists on FA who can draw a gryphon and make sure that it is okay for general audiences. Also, designing/drawing/inking art takes time and time is money. Minimum wage in the USA is $8 right now right? So assume that it takes 4 hours and $16 worth in materials (reason for high mat costs is computer programs, scanners, etc...). At that point it should make more sense as to a $50 commission. Note: I'm not sure how accurate my assumption is because I do chainmail not traditional artwork.

Actually, it is relevant, due to the fact that,if I tell people that I'm Canadian, people charge me more.... got a thing against Canadians, huh?
(Incidentally, your porn comment made no sense; it was the legal COMMERCIAL aspect of the Internet that is responsible for most of the features; get your information straight before making a point would ya?)

Also, and stop beating around the bushes about calling me cheap; get to the point; you're wasting my time otherwise.


Also, I have a opinion, stop calling me out on it as well as calling me me a skinflint, would ya? My opinion is that FA is MOSTLY (See, left myself a out with that; smart, ain't I?) made up of horribly overpriced artists, and so far, I have seen little to dissuade me from that opinion.

(Also, I believe you Americans have something in your Constitution about freedom of opinion without fear of prejudice or judgment.... We have it in Our Charter Of Rights... and your Constitution get violated a lot, from what I've seen....)

Look, I'm not trying to tell you that you don't have a right to an opinion. All I'm saying is that our opinions differ. It makes sense to me that artists charge apparently obscene amounts for a piece of art because it takes time and effort to make them. My view point has nothing to do with you. I just want to stand up for all of the starving artists out there who live off of their commissions by informing you that the prices that they charge can seem more reasonable when you look at them from the artists point of view. After all, Canadian or American, I wouldn't want to work for under the minimum wage. And the comment about why there is so much porn was to point out that it isn't weird for FA to have mostly porn or xxx rated art. It is perfectly understandable given that it's the best selling product on the market.

The American Constitution does have something like that in it. You are absolutely correct. It was never my intent to oppress your freedom of speech. Only to peaceably discuss and debate the apparent overpricing of art on FA and the large quantities of pornography.

Here is the section of the American constitution that I believe you were speaking about.
Amendment I (1791) "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press;....."

With all this said and my point made, and in the interest of causing less drama, I respectfully withdraw from this argument.
