Name: Nagato
Nickname/Alias: Pain
Gender: Male
Age: Around 40 (Appears to br About 25)
Village & Homeland: Amegakure (Village Hidden in the Rain)
Birthday: September 19
Chakra Nature Type: Fire, Wind, Lightning, Earth, Water, Yin and Yang
Blood Type: A
Skin Tone: Fair Skinned
Height: ... 176.5cm (5'9.5")
Weight: 57.2kg (126 lbs)
Hair Style & Color: Auburn Short and Spiked
Eye Color: Orange (Except with Rinnegan it is more of a gray-purple color with ripples in it)
Body Type: Thin
Ninja Rank: Kage Level, Missing Nin
Kekkei Genkai: Rinnegan-Rinnegan is the blood inheritance limit of Rokudou Sennin (Six Realms Sage) and his descendants. Rokudou Sennin was viewed as the original shinobi and his Doujutsu was regarded as the most venerable of the three great Doujutsu. As the original shinobi it was said he created modern Ninjutsu. The Rinnegan was regarded as a god of creation when the world was racked with chaos and as a weapon of destruction which could return everything to nothingness. Usage of the Rinnegan was said to give the user mastery over all six forms of chakra nature manipulation.
The true extent of the Rinnegan abilities are currently unknown. Rain orphan Nagato was an inheritor of the Doujutsu, and used it unconsciously when he was angry and afraid. He entered into a berserk state which allowed him to defeat a much stronger foe. It may be this same ability which allowed him to never lose a battle as "Pain," the leader of the Rain Village rebel faction and Akatsuki. Nagato in the guise of "Pain" also has the ability to switch between six different bodies. Each body that Nagato shares also wields the Rinnegan. When Pain summons the other host bodies to fight alongside him, each Rinnegan host will share the same vision. Meaning what one Pain views, all his other bodies also view, even if their vision is damaged. By increasing the number of Rinnegan host bodies on the battlefield, Pain will increase the number of viewing angles and eliminate any potential blind spots.
Favored Weapon: Chakra Disruption Blade-
The Chakra Disruption Blades are blades made of the chakra receivers used by Nagato and connected to the Rinnegan and the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path, as the same rods are seen emanating from the statue to pierce Nagato at one point. Pain creates the blades as needed from both arms of each path, with no apparent limit on the length as they emerge from what appears the third rod away from the hand on the forearm.[1] Each of these blades disrupt the chakra of its victim, injuring them or rendering them incapable of moving. When a victim is stabbed by the blades, the Rinnegan appears in their mind, suggesting that Nagato has some degree of influence over them, similar to how he controls the Six Paths. Naruto stabbed himself with one of these blades while in Sage Mode to follow Nagato's chakra to detect his whereabouts.
Out of all the Six Paths of Pain, the Deva Path uses the blades the most. Nagato, due to being immobile, can fire his chakra disruption blades from his mechanical seat, which then allows him to control the victims like one of the paths due to the close proximity between each other.
General Mood: Calm and Serious
Usual Expression: It is Impossible to read emotion from his face
Positive Aspects: Powerful, Respectful, Leader of the Akatsuki
Negative Aspects: Has a habit of not checking to see if his enemy is dead
Likes: Konan, respects great power, believes in Naruto
Dislikes: People who are mean to Konan, Konaha Village
Friends with: Konan, Yahiko
Enemies with: Because Konohagakure is partly responsible for the tragedies in his life, he held some form of animosity for the village. Although Jiraiya's influence improved his opinion of the village during their time together, he eventually came to believe that Konoha profited from the tragedies of others and hated it and his former teacher.
Loves: Konan (she was said to be his Angel in Amegakure)
Family:
During the Second Great Shinobi World War, Nagato used to live with his parents in a village near Amegakure. One day two Konoha shinobi broke into their home looking for food, unaware that the place was still inhabited. Nagato's parents, believing they were going to be killed, attacked the two so that Nagato could escape. Having mistaken them to be enemy ninja, the Konoha ninja killed his parents. In his grief, Nagato awakened his Rinnegan and killed the assailants. He would come to consider this incident the first great pain of his life.
His family gone, Nagato wandered the country, going from house to house asking for food. In time he met a dog named Chibi and later, Konan and Yahiko, who began traveling with him in his search for food. One day, Chibi was killed in the crossfire from Hanzō's fight with the soon to be Sannin. Nagato mourned his death and promised himself that he would change the world. Soon afterwards the war ended, and the three orphans ran into the Sannin. Rather than return to Konoha with his teammates, Jiraiya decided to teach the three how to look after themselves.
The Ame Orphans after completing Jiraiya's training.
Soon after Jiraiya began living with the orphans, Nagato and Yahiko were attacked by an Iwagakure ninja. Nagato reactivated his Rinnegan to defend Yahiko, killing the ninja. When Jiraiya found out about this, he decided to train them in ninjutsu. Nagato was very emotional about killing the ninja, and asked Jiraiya for help so he could protect Konan and Yahiko. Jiraiya's response was for Nagato to grow up and to use his eyes to find the peace that they both desired for the world. Three years later the orphans had become competent ninja, so Jiraiya returned to Konoha.
Friends: The Akatsuki, Yahiko
History:
Over the years, news of the three's exploits would reach Jiraiya. This often consisted of the death of someone who opposed them; eventually he received word that they had all died. In truth, Nagato, Konan, and Yahiko began a quest to find peace. They became full-fledged Amegakure ninja and gathered followers who shared their philosophies of an end to war. The leader of Amegakure, Hanzō, viewed the group as a threat to his position as leader and schemed with Konoha's Foundation to eliminate them. Claiming to want to discuss peace, Hanzō lured Nagato, Yahiko, and Konan to an ambush.
There he forced Nagato to choose between killing Yahiko or Konan. Not wanting to force Nagato to make the choice, Yahiko impaled himself with a kunai that was placed in Nagato's hand. With Yahiko's dying breath, he told Nagato to survive, because he believed in Jiraiya's words that Nagato would become the world's savior. This would become the second great pain of Nagato's life.
Devastated, Nagato retrieved Konan and Yahiko's body and launched an attack against Hanzō's men. With the Summoning: Demonic Statue of the Outer Path he was able to kill all but Hanzō. However, the technique left Nagato emaciated, with numerous chakra rods embedded in his back. He severed his loyalties with Amegakure by scratching through the symbol of his Amegakure forehead protector, resolving to teach the village and the world his pain. Yahiko's body would later be incorporated into the Six Paths of Pain as the Deva Path.
Upon adopting the alias "Pain", Nagato led the rebelling forces in the Amegakure civil war, and took control of the village by assassinating Hanzō. He then solidified his leadership by systematically killing anyone who had direct ties to the former leader. At some point he assisted Madara Uchiha in the creation of Akatsuki, using Amegakure as his base of operations.
Other:
As the leader of Akatsuki, and one of the two sides of the Amegakure Civil War, Nagato was an extraordinarily powerful shinobi. His partner, Konan, had stated that he had never lost a single battle, and that he is "unbeatable." Nagato was strongly recognized as the most powerful member of Akatsuki; even Madara Uchiha stated Pain to be "invincible." [8] Even one of the elder toads, Fukasaku, stated that without understanding Pain's power, no one could beat him.[9] It has also been noted at several points in time that Nagato possessed an unusually large amount of exceptionally strong chakra.
List of Jutsus:
Amplification Summoning Technique-
This is a summoning technique that in which the summoned creature is given a special condition and when that condition is met it gains a certain ability.
Shinra Tensei-
Shinra Tensei is the ability to manipulate gravity at the users will to repulse matter away. Depending on the amount of force Nagato puts in this Jutsu, it can easily shatter wood, bones, stone or metal. By using this technique as a defensive measure, all attacks directed to the user will be deflected, no matter the size, power or mass. The only downside to this technique is that there is a short period when it is unusable after being used, though only for roughly five seconds.
Banshō Ten'in-
Banshō Ten'in is a technique similar to Shinra Tensei in that it manipulates gravity at the users will, however instead of pushing objects away, it draws them close. It is unknown if it can be used in a similar scale as Shinra Tensei or if it has the same five second limit.
Blocking Technique Absorption Seal-
A highly advanced sealing technique that is capable of absorbing any chakra, regardless of any spacial or nature transformation, and dispersing it within one's body by spinning the chakra within one's body in the opposite direction. As a result, this technique can absorb any ninjutsu based technique, regardless of power, without harming the user.
Should the user get close enough to grab the opponent, the barrier can absorb chakra right out of an individual's body, effectively draining them.
Chakra Propulsion Boots-
The Asura Path utilizes chakra that shoots out of his boots to propel himself in a linear direction, greatly increasing his speed.
Chibaku Tensei-The user creates a dark black sphere of gravity that, when thrown into the sky, attracts objects from all directions and pulls them into the sphere, compressing them together. The surrounding earth, including forests and mountains, are collected into a single point, piling on top of one another until it creates a large sphere. A large crater is left where the earth has been collected from. The Deva Path had to be brought within close range of Nagato before it could use the technique, and performing it put a great deal of strain on Nagato. This strain eventually caused the technique to dispel, by which the large sphere, that was created by it, fell apart again.
Earth Release: Earth Style Wall-
This ninjutsu is used to defend against an incoming attack by creating a solid wall of earth. Chakra is converted to earth within the body and then spit out. This earth then instantly rises up and takes form. The barrier itself is also coated with chakra, making its strength incomparable to that of a normal mud wall. Because of the earth's special characteristics, the wall is highly resistant against, for instance, fire and water. Also, for a Kage-class shinobi it is possible to create a vast volume of earth.
Fire Release: Dragon Fire Technique-
The user breathes fire along a cord or any other type of long object, which rush forward in straight line catching the enemy on fire. The flames are meant to target, and assault the enemy's upper body just like a projectile weapon.
Five Seals Barrier-
This technique creates a barrier around a place by placing four "Forbidden" tags in different locations surrounding, a fifth tag on the location to be protected. The tags are placed on flat surfaces, and are connected with the user's chakra. This technique turns the entire range surrounded by the tags into a barrier space, and inside the space, the material destruction is "forbidden". Using any kind of physical attack to try and destroy something in the barrier is folly, as it will only lead to injury. To cancel this, it is necessary to search for the five tags and tear them off simultaneously. Meaning there must be at least five people on a team to cancel it.
Even if the barrier is broken, there is a final obstacle. The user can add a trap that will create perfect copies of those who have removed the seal, preventing them from returning immediately.
Mirrored Sudden Attacker Technique-
A double trap laid under the Five Seal Barrier. This technique is automatically started when the "Forbidden"-tags are removed. An exact copy of the person who removed the tag will appear with their appearance, battle skills, and so on. Because the double has a fixed amount of stamina, it has an advantage in a drawn-out battle. In order to cancel this technique, the one who removed the tag has no choice but to somehow become stronger than they were at the time they removed it.
Flaming Arrow Missiles-
The Asura Path pulls out its hand, which is revealed to be connected to the arm by a thick cord with missiles attached to it. The missiles then can be launched, causing massive explosions. These missiles can also come out of the Asura Path's body, and launched at the opponents directly with a homing effect.
Flaming Arrow of Amazing Ability-
The Asura Path detaches and fires its hand like a rocket. Upon focusing chakra to the wrist, the hand will be launched towards the target. This chakra will also act like a magnet, to draw the hand back for reattachment. The chakra also functions to protect the hand, allowing its powerful strike to severely damage rock, but not the hand itself.
Laser Explosion-
The Asura Path opens the top of its head, revealing a cannon of sorts. The cannon then releases a massive blast of chakra in the form of a laser, causing a powerful explosion that devastates the surrounding area.
Shadow Clone Technique-
Similar to the Clone Technique, this jutsu creates clones of the user. But unlike the Clone Technique, these clones are actual copies, not illusions. The user's chakra is evenly distributed among every clone, giving each clone an equal fraction of the user's overall power. The clones are capable of performing jutsu on their own and can even bleed, but will usually disperse after one or two solid blows. They can also disperse on their own. The clones will be created in roughly the same condition as the original.
Unlike other clone techniques, they can't be detected by the Byakugan because the clones have the exact same amount of chakra and aren't made from any other substance, making them indistinguishable from the actual person. In the anime, Sasuke Uchiha claims that the Sharingan can distinguish clones from the original, however various events throughout the series seem to indicate that this is not the case, implying that the Sharingan was merely used to keep track of the original's movements.
Shapeshifting Technique-
This technique allows Pain to allocate chakra from someone else into a human sacrifice, allowing them to fight via an elaborate "copy". The appearance of the person on whom the Shapeshifting Technique is performed is 100% identical to the original person. The technique will imitate any weapons, tools or kekkei genkai held by the original person, allowing the copy to fight with them. The power of the copy is in proportion to the volume of allocated chakra, which is decided by Pain. The original's technique are also available, but once the chakra runs out, the technique is cancelled and the copy dies. As it even uses up the sacrifices chakra, this is an incredibly brutal technique.
Soul Removal-
By placing his hand on a target's head this technique allows the Human Path to rip the victim's consciousness (i.e. soul) out of their body which in turn, kills them.
Summoning Technique-
Before a summon can be performed, a prospective summoner must first sign a contract with a given species. The contract can come in the form of a scroll or a tattoo. The summoner then signs the contract in their own blood. After this, they need only perform the hand seals, offer an additional donation of blood, and use the same hand they signed the contract with to summon the creature.[4] The amount of chakra used during the summoning determines how big the summoned creature can be. It should be noted that anyone can summon the animal as long as they have the blood from someone who has made a contract, along with sufficient chakra of their own
Summoning: Demonic Statue of the Outer Path-
Nagato summons a giant statue that releases multiple chakra rods from its abdomen that pierce Nagato's back. When the rods are in place, Nagato uses the statue to spew a dragon-like creature from its mouth, which removes the souls of any person it comes in contact with. After serving its purpose, the chakra rods break off and remain embedded in Nagato's back while the statue disappears. The technique seems to take a considerable toll on Nagato, who becomes more and more emaciated for the duration of the technique. This began the moment the chakra rods penetrated his body.
Water Release: Violent Water Wave-
Water gushes out from the mouth like a waterfall and washes away the enemy. One can freely control the power of this technique with the amount chakra one releases. Having many variations, this is a basic Water Release technique
Wind Release: Violent Wind Palm-
A simple technique that when the users hands are clapped together, wind is compressed and transformed into a powerful gale. The jutsu used as an isolated attack has the power to easily knock over a human. Though the true value comes from using it together with projectile weapons like shuriken or kunai. Their speed, power, and ability to wound or even kill are all increased several times.
Six Paths of Pain-
The Six Paths of Pain was a jutsu used by Nagato, and served as his representation in Akatsuki. It allowed Nagato to control six separate bodies as though they were his own. Each of these bodies were reanimated corpses which were both kept mobile by, and made use of, Nagato's chakra. While controlling them, Nagato used the alias "Pain", yet still regarded them as separate from himself.
Deva Path-
The Deva Path was regarded as Pain's most powerful and cherished of the six Paths. Its main abilities revolved around gravity manipulation, allowing it to repel or attract objects or people. However, it could not perform these techniques in rapid succession, leaving it vulnerable for a short period of time after each use. This period of time between usages varied from five seconds to several minutes, depending upon the force of the repulsion or attraction that the Deva Path had used. When performing a large-scale attack, Nagato had to first sever his connections with the other paths and then employ his chakra only to the Deva Path for the attack. However this is considerably risky as the other Pains were healing considerably sluggishly when the Naraka Path administered his jutsu. The Deva Path's Chibaku Tensei allowed it to release a black orb of energy that could attract all surrounding matter to form a huge makeshift terrestrial body. The Deva Path's most infamous and one of his greatest feats was singlehandly wiping out Konohagakure with one powerful Shinra Tensei.
Animal Path-
The Animal Path's main abilities revolved around summoning various animals and creatures to aid it in battle. Each creature served a different purpose in battle, much like every path of Pain was also different from the others. Each animal summon also shared Nagato's Rinnegan and had various body piercings as well, suggesting that they too were under his control.
Tactics wise, the path's primary role in battle appeared to be overwhelming multiple opponents with its summons. In addition to that, both bodies used for this path were of a smaller stature than the other five, which, coupled with Pain's tendency to use his Asura Path to throw the second Animal Path in order to reach far off locations and infiltrate Konoha, as well as Pain's decision to first confront Jiraiya with the first Animal Path body, suggests that it acted as both a scout, as well as a way for Pain to move around the battlefield quickly through summons. Worthy of note, Animal Path requires no blood sacrifice or hand contact with the surface to performing a Summoning Technique. It can summon Giant Drill-Beaked Bird, Giant Multi-Headed Dog, Giant Panda, Giant Ram, Giant Rhino, Giant Crustacean, Giant Centipede, Giant Snake-Tailed Chameleon, The other Paths of Pain, and Konan
Preta Path-
This path's "Energy Absorption" ability was primarily defensive, since it was capable of absorbing any ninjutsu-related technique, thereby nullifying its effect. This technique could also take the form of a barrier around its body, allowing it to absorb attacks from all directions. In addition to its defensive properties, this body's ability had also shown offensive capabilities, as it could absorb all the chakra out of any person that it touched or grabbed.
Human Path-
During Pain's battle with Jiraiya, the Human Path's eyes were damaged and it was left unable to see. For this reason, it used only taijutsu during the battle. The Human Path was later shown to have the capability of mind reading simply by placing its hand over the target's head, and could extort any information or secret being hidden by the victim against his/her will. The most powerful and lethal ability possessed by the Human Path was its power to remove its target's soul by ripping it out of his/her body, thus killing the victim.
Asura Path-
This body was very different from all other paths, being more like an android, as it had a number of body alterations. It was shown to have robotic inner workings, possessing six arms and a folded, serrated blade-like tail. It could fire one of its left forearms off as a long-range projectile, and could pull out his arms to reveal and fire a cluster of segmented missiles at its targets. It could quickly propel itself forward with a burst of chakra from its boots, and could protract multiple blades and a drill from one of its arms in battle. Also, it could open up the crown of its head to release a titanic shockwave that was capable of destroying numerous buildings at once. Its physical raw power was enough to rip Jiraiya's arm off, and then crush his throat with basic Taijutsu moves, as well as to throw Animal Path all the way into Konohagakure from the forests in its outskirts. All of these abilities befitted the "warring demon" name that the Asura Path held, whilst giving it a considerably higher degree of versatility than the other paths had (aside from the Deva Path).
Naraka Path-
Although it was physically strong enough to lift a man with one hand, the only ability exhibited by the Naraka Path lay in the use of summoning the Outer Path. The Outer Path is a large head which sprouts out of the ground surrounded by purple flames and possesses the Rinnegan. The Outer Path could fulfill two purposes: interrogation and restoration. To interrogate, the Naraka Path need only catch hold of a person, causing the Outer Path to appear before them. With the victim seemingly paralyzed, the Naraka Path begins questioning them. After answers are given, the King of Hell will unzip its mouth to release tendril-like arms and would draw out the victim's life force energy from their mouth. The Outer Path then proceeds to pass its judgment. If the person was lying or refused to answer the questions, the Outer Path would remove their life force energy and consume it, killing them. However, if they told the truth, they would be spared, although left extremely exhausted. The second ability the Naraka Path possessed is the ability to repair any damage. To do so the Naraka Path has the Outer Path ingest the damaged body with its tendril-like arms into its mouth. Then, after some time, the destroyed body will emerge from its mouth, completely healed and rejuvenated.
Outer Path-
The Outer Path is the seventh path of Pain, not included with the main Six Paths of Pain. It has control over Life and Death. When used by the Naraka Path, it's used for interrogation and rejuvenation.
It is used by the Naraka Path for interrogation and is capable of discerning whether an individual is lying or not. When implemented on a target, a serpent-like apparition of their life force energy emerges from their mouth and presented to the figure. The Outer Path then proceeds to pass its judgement on the victim. If they are lying (or refuse to answer the question), their life force energy is consumed and they die. If the target is telling the truth, they don't die, though they're left extremely exhausted. When the Naraka Path uses this technique, the figure possesses the Rinnegan similar to how the Animal Path's summons all possess the Rinnegan. The Outer Path can only be seen by the ones it's being used upon.
For its second ability, the Outer Path can repair the other paths of Pain should they be damaged or killed. When it consumed the remains of the Asura Path, the path emerged from the figure fully restored and was even wearing a new Akatsuki robe (the body had discarded its previous robe). While the Outer Path is being used for this, it seems that others are able to see it, unlike when it is being used for interrogation purpose. However, the only person to actually look at it while it was being used for this purpose was Naruto while in Sage Mode, so it is possible that normal people cannot, even for revival.
Lastly, the Outer Path can be summoned for the Outer Path: Samsara of Heavenly Life Technique, where Nagato can release life force energy to people who were recently killed and allow their souls to return to their rejuvenated bodies. This jutsu can only be used by Nagato, the main entity in control of the Six paths. This power is said to transcend even the very concepts of life and death.
