My knifty knitter says to attach the yarn to the loom with a half-hitch, and it gives directions, but i don't understand how to do it. Can anyone explain this to me like i'm 5?

A half hitch is like a figure 4 knot. Ever do spiral staircase knot with hemp jewelry? It's the same thing. Bring the yarn over the dowel toward you, make a #4 shape with the yarn. Bring the #4 cross over strand around the back and through the hole in the 4 toward yourself. Pull up the slack until the knot slides up to the dowel rod. That's it!
