- naming dream -
There was a great stillness
A long pause as though the world held its breath
The leaves were still, the birds and the crickets silent, even the wind paused as though it waited, polite, for an invitation before crossing that brief threshold between sunset and darkness.
A doorway to night that was painted with the last bits of sunlight, and the deep soft purples that blanketed the day before it closed its eyes and let only stars and moon shine through.
She moved forward in that hush like a ghost, and it seemed that the moment flickered like a small fire, all but out in the deep dark waters of night, a momentary spark that would, too quickly vanish.
It embraced her, held her close like bracken and branches at once safe and yet catching and firm. Before her she saw the moon, the stars, true night with it's haunting cries and deep slumber.
Behind her she saw the sunset, bright colors painted across the sky as though it were a great bird courting its dull feathered mate. Perhaps then the moon was its egg, waiting for some story yet to be to hatch it into another thing, another story, another place.
She tried to go forward, and found her way barred, she tried to go back and could not either, panic seized her for a brief moment, uncertainty... a lack of clarity before she realized, and turned. There between the night and day, between brightness and stillness she moved. Caught between as the world sighed...
