I have been fleshing out an idea for a denim JSK lined/accented with some kind of gingham print for my final project in sewing class, in a country-lolita theme, and I wonder if anyone has tried this before or seen soemthing like it, or has any other injunctions.

That would be very cute! The only concern I would have is would the denim be too heavy for a petty coat or to obtain the right amount of poof to look like a cupcake?

I agree. I would be afraid of it being too heavy. Unless you get a light denim, if you can find any. I have never heard anything similar to it before. I wish you luck on that. I would love to see how it looks when your done.

I think the hardest part will be sewing the ruffles, because of sewing all the layers of denim at once. As for how it will look... I think it would be possible to pull it off. Particularly with one of those embodiered or printed denims.

I haven't seen anyone individual do denim in lolita, but Meta uses it frequently for casual skirts, jackets and trousers, and has also made this: Telephone Print Salopette Skirt.

I've seen it worn as country before, with boater hats and and sun hats.

Wait, that reminds me. I forgot because it was fashion denim, woven with a rather handsome pattern. I have made a lolita out of denim, and making the ruffles wasn't very difficult. I do think it could work, but I repeat what I said about the embroidery.

Denim loli is something that i've been meaning to do for a while. I see no reason it can't work, so long as you think it through and make sure you don't force the fabric to do something it simply cannot do, or that your machine can't handle.
