Sariel flinched a little, grabbing Astrid's wrist to stop her and looked away. "It's nothing. Don't worry about it." Then he realized how close they were and quickly let go of her, taking a step back to lean against the wall, his arms crossed.

『Astrid Tedrow』 "No, no!" she said. "Give me the shirt! If I don't wash it now, it will stain. And that would be unfortunate because it looks very nice on you." She smiled. "So give me.. the shirt." ☆═━┈┈━═☆

Sariel sighed. "Do you always have to be this stubborn?" He still made no move to take the shirt off, however. He kept his arms firmly crossed over his chest, which would stop her from getting very far if she tried to force him to take it off.

『Astrid Tedrow』 "Give me the shirt!" she said stubbornly. She moved closer to him and put her hand out. "I'm going to have to throw it out, you know, if you don't give it to me now. That stain is getting bigger by-" Suddenly she realized. There was only one way that a red stain that refused to wash out with warm water could get bigger... "That's blood, isn't it?" ☆═━┈┈━═☆

Sariel looked away, refusing to meet her eyes. He didn't answer. 'Took you long enough...' was what he didn't say. He didn't dare say anything. He refused to let a mere human worry about his safety. One, it hurt his pride as a former angel. Two, it made him think of the reason why he became a former angel. It hurt even more than physical human-inflicted wounds. "...That's...none of your business."

『Astrid Tedrow』 Astrid was showed no sign of emotion on her face. Of course, the only time she seemed emotionless was when she was really angry. "Off." she said in a monotone voice. "Take the shirt off. I need to see the wound." She knew Sariel was most likely not going to oblige, and she was prepared to use force, although that probably wouldn't work, either. ☆═━┈┈━═☆

Sariel sighed. He could tell that Astrid was angry now. "It's not that big of a deal." He muttered, but his resolve weakened at her determination and he obliged reluctantly, tugging off his shirt to reveal the bandage around his torso, which was now a little soaked in blood on his left side, where he had been attacked.

『Astrid Tedrow』 Astrid snatched the shirt and tossed it in the sink, dousing it with cold water. After a moment of scrubbing the stain with a wash rag, she turned to Sariel. "Why?" she asked. "Why were you even out on the streets int the first place?" She moved closer and bent down to examine the gash in his side. ☆═━┈┈━═☆

Sariel sighed, and let Astrid have her way. "I..." Did he really dare tell her? "I was trying to find someone." Sort of. "I thought...she might be around here somewhere...but I guess not."

『Astrid Tedrow』 "You were trying to find someone..." Astrid mulled over Sariel's words for a moment. "...Me, maybe?" The way Sariel refused to make eye contact confirmed her hunch. "Why were you out looking for me?!" Astrid cried. "You knew I was coming! You didn't need to go out! I'm much safer out there alone than you are!" ☆═━┈┈━═☆

Sariel kept looking away. "I didn't want you to come here." He replied stubbornly. "It's as dangerous for you to be out here as much as it's dangerous for me to be wandering the streets! If anyone followed you here, or knew you were seeing me, it would be much worse for you than it would be for someone like me! You have a family, Astrid, and I-" He cut himself off and lowered his voice, which had risen slightly out of a spark of frustration. "I am nobody. I have no one. No one would miss me if I were gone. No one would care." His voice turned bitter. "I want you to stop coming here. Stop risking yourself for a low-life piece of scum like me. I don't deserve any of this. You're just....wasting your time if you think this can get any better for either of us." He firmly grabbed her by the shoulders and forced himself to step away from her. He felt horrible for saying those kinds of things to her, but he couldn't...bring himself to apologize. She needed to go. He didn't want to be the one to bring her down because he was a fallen. She...deserved better and he cared too much for her to let her stay around him.

『Astrid Tedrow』 Astrid dropped his shirt on the floor. She was so angry. How could he say those things?! Astrid quickly turned to the stove and stirred the noodles. At the same time, the microwave beeped, so she darted over to it, opened the microwave door, and pulled out the tray of mashed potatoes and steak. "Here." she said firmly as she set the tray down on the counter. "It probably tastes like cardboard." She went back to the noodles and began stirring them. But finally, she couldn't hold it in any longer. "Why would you say those things?!" Astrid whipped around to face Sariel. "I'm your friend! I would miss you! You're more like my family than anyone who lives in my house!" Astrid wanted to cry, but she was afraid to show any weakness in front of her friend. ☆═━┈┈━═☆

Sariel looked down, not meeting her eyes, but his resolve was wavering. He was afraid that, if he looked at her, she would know, and she wouldn't leave. He bit his lip to keep from saying anything, fighting back the urge to wrap his arms around her and comfort her. He couldn't...if she still had ties back here. Unless...he heaved a sigh, and let his guard drop, walking around the counter to hug her tightly to him. "I'm afraid..." He whispered, his voice cracking slightly, completely giving in to his own selfish desires...the want to have her with him at all times...to never let her go. "I'm afraid of being alone..." This was bad. "I'm afraid of making friends because I know I'll lose them." He couldn't stop himself from pouring out his heart to her.
"Astrid....
I'm afraid of losing you."
