@purple: sweatdrop I didn't mean anything directed at you. I just see a lot of accusations of woman hating in today's society when there's a lot of anti-masculinity and man-mocking going on but because of said "pendulum" it's totally acceptable. In fact, many won't even see it as man-hating because it's so acceptable.

The term "male chauvinist pig" springs to mind.

I always thought that the term "female chauvinist pig"
should exist and be used as well.

Dude, I don't think Iakun is qualified to speak for women any more than I am qualified to speak for men. You can't assume that his statement is true for all or even most women.

As for my coworkers, I wasn't just talking about them. They might be more average than you think. And from more "categories", too.

I agree, everyone should be punished equally, assuming that they've done the same exact thing. But in point of fact, I've known more women to be sympathetic to male rape victims than men. The men tend to make a big joke out of it, while the women are more empathetic. Try talking to people in person about it. You might be surprised. Actually, I think you'd be surprised about a lot of things.

Iakun: I understand. There is a lot of that going around. I would never say there wasn't. The same is true of race issues, class issues, etc. I'm sort of wondering if someday in average society it won't be considered cool to be gay and bash the straight people. o.O

Just because it's not most, doesn't mean it's not many.
Like you said before, it's the loud people that you hear about.
And it does color perspectives.

I'll have to take your word on that.
Though good will always seems to attract certain types of people.
Or do you only talk about those certain types ^.^
(reference first paragraph, second line)

I probably would be surprised about alot of things.
But keeping a negative view of the world means that I can be surprised.
If you keep a positive view, you'll only be let down.
It's a matter of which you prefer, because both do happen.
My motto:
Expect the best, and be stabbed in the back.
Expect the worst, and be pleasantly surprised more often.
It links back to the "never let your guard down" thing.
(and you know I'm a person of extremes.)
I can already hear you saying that I should find a balance between the two.
But if your on the line between the 2, both WILL happen.
And I don't want to be "stabbed in the back" at all.
Call me cautious, or call me paranoid. It's your choice.

Still, many means less than half. As in, a minority? Let us all ignore the loud people. 3nodding

I tend to talk about the people who cause the most trouble. Squeaky wheel and all that.

But you're not taking into account that you can never be totally prepared. No matter how paranoid or anti-social you are, you will still get "stabbed in the back" and experience other such negative things. It's unavoidable. It's life. And expecting the best does not guarantee that something bad is going to happen, either. That's why finding the balance between the two is the best way to go. Finding balance does not mean letting your guard down. It means developing an inner peace and purposely looking for the bright side. It's not like a slide ruler, where moving toward the middle means moving away from one side. It's more like collecting. Collect your paranoia and your negative views, but then collect some good stuff too. Put them all together, and you may find some stuff you don't even need anymore.

It's very hard to ignore someone practically yelling in your face.
Though the peace would be nice.

Like you thought I was when we were kids?

Mix the good and the bad, and you'll still be able to enjoy the good.
Maybe it'll even overshadow the bad.
Don't ignore it, just be aware of it's presence.
Is that what you're saying?
I guess I'm just very distrustful of people that I meet.

you're the one that said it's the trouble makers that get all the attention.
They're loud (aka: yelling in your face) so they're the ones you hear about.

And you never asked when you wanted something.
Personally I could never figure THAT out ???

Not as easy done then said >_>

Ah, you didn't mean literally. xd

I wasn't sure about that, either, until I thought about my favorite stories and shows from when I was a kid and how they affected me. I think I suffered from that old classic, Fairy Tale Princess Syndrome. Only, instead of mooning about The Prince That Never Comes, I developed a complex about how the meek little girls always get what they want in the end because people notice the quiet ones and feel sorry for them. It actually took years for me to figure out that wasn't right. xp

Very few things are. But anything that's worth it is worth the work.

Nope, LOL

That crap is dangerous, man !!!
>_>

The question is... Is it worth the work?

If you don't think anything's worth the work, then nothing is worth the work. Sometimes, both the beginning and the end result are up to you.
