Where I grew up- being a Godparent is a serious thing, and according to the Catholic Church, you can't be a Protestant and be a godparent to a Catholic. You have to be a confirmed Catholic over the age 16- but the age thing can change if you have a letter issued by a Bishop or similar authority- and you have to be in good standing within the Church. Protestants can witness- but they can't be Godparents.

You can love the baby and be a part of his life without being a godparent.

gonk my aunt wants me to be my baby cousins god mother... do u see my problem??? i dont know if i can go into a lutherian church and be a god mother if i dont believe in god. i love the baby with all my heart. is there a way i can do this without betraying my baby cousin or my religon? help!?
That is a tough situation. You gotta do wat you think you need to do girl. If you cant bring yourself to do it wait. You can do that anytime. And just explain how your feeling and your view on the situation. Im sure your aunt would understand whatever you choose.
