This dude was on CBS's Sunday Morning program a while ago. He's also got these freaking awesome penguins that FLY. Albeit with the help of helium, but still!

The spider on Wild Wild West is SOO much better.
The design actually looked like it might be possible.
This one the other hand, looked like to could be blown over by the wind ^^;
(cool, but kinda flimsy looking)

*shrugs* I suppose but me personally I think the one from Wild Wild West seemed far more clunky and bulky while these look more graceful elegant. However, in all honestly beauty, art, and such are in the eyes of the beholder. *nods*

Considering the fact that THESE things are real and he actually had them outside, I'm going to guess that they're pretty sturdy, dude. He had them walking on the beach for cryin' out loud. xp If you want to argue structure, I'm pretty sure that the spider on WWW would have been too bulky and heavy to be so agile or graceful. (Not to mention impossible to build during that time period, but that's splitting hairs.) And just as easily knocked over since it would've had to have been expertly balanced and easily scaled.

Bulky and heavy.

Plus you'd have to use hydrolics because nothing else would be able to lift the weight. And that would make it even heavier >.<
