Hmong/ Miao in China

Did know that some hmong/ miao in China could speak hmong that we can understand? Ling Lee is a hmong form China and is a hmong singer. I saw her on youtube and she said she actually spoke hmong green, but she can also speak hmong white too. I just found this shocking and cool.

Oh, I knew that Hmong/Miao people in China can speak our language for a long time already ever since my dad bought those Mee Hang music videos back in the early 90's.

They're a little bit hard to understand if you don't know the Green dialect, but then it's still hard to understand them because they have a Chinese accent when they're talking.

I would go if one person spoke hmong fluently over there. Then they can translate for us. xd

Well, there are many different Hmong groups in China. The ones living in Yunnan are the ones that speak our dialect. So you won't need an interpretor for them. It's the ones that live in Hunan, Guizhou and Sichuan that you need to have an interptor. They're still Hmong but they speak different dialects (yes there is more than just white and green).

It's probably the Lao/Viet/Thai version of the word. Because the Chinese called us "Miao" for centuries, the Lao/Viet/Thai people also call us that but they pronouce it as "Meo". It was in bad taste because it had a different meaning to it back then. But if you look at the Chinese character for "Miao" (苗), it means 'yub nplej' or "sprout or rice seedling".
