Once, in an abandoned field outside of Barton Town and Bass'ken Lake where the borders meet, a family of outcast elk resided. The mother elk was a peaceful creature, determined to raise her seven offspring without any help from their father, who left as soon as the last young'un was born. Seven little children, all female elk, with the exception of the youngest, the one named Carl.
Carl was one to make sure his family was fed, regardless of what had to be done. He would butcher bunnies, birds, and basketful of snakes for the sake of feeding his sisters and mom, though they ridiculed them for his way of grunting. Well, that was how most of the elk clan treated him. The women elk would gossip behind his back and the men elk would laugh at him and play dirty tricks. Never was there mercy for the one who tried to make things right.
After several years of living in peace, a group of scientists in Barton wanted to team up for an experiment that was basically nuclear warfare, testing for bombs and such. The testing area would be on the land of the elk, an element that the elk disbelieved. They didn't want to destroy the beauty of the land just for the humans. Carl was one of the leading men elk who decided to take a chance, forcing the scientists to promise not to do anything harmful to their land.
And so the experiments began. Carl undertook many needles and serums into his body, taking extreme emotional and physical torture as the scientists made money for their own personal gain. Every night he would stamp his hooves in the cage, knowing that hopefully he would finally make it right for his family. If he could just endure one more painful infliction, one more beating, maybe the other elk would finally respect him, the one who was named Carl.
Sadly, that was not to be. One day, upon a glimpse of what the humans called a television set, Carl saw the area that was once his home. In its stead were dozens of craters, none of which hold a single strand of life. The elk realized that the scientists had doublecrossed him, failed or ignored to keep their promise in order to make a quick buck. He would later learn that there were no survivors within the abandoned field. His mother, sister, friends...they were all gone.
It was then that Carl decided that he would fly solo with his vengeance. No one else, animal or human, would decide his fate or ridicule him any longer. As the experiments messed with his ability and his strength had been intensified, the mighty elk busted out of his cage and trampled any scientists that came across his path. (And yes, there were also plenty of scientists who were not actually in his path.) On that day many would lose their lives because they decided to screw with the remaining elk's life. Never again would they make that mistake without paying for it.
As for Carl he managed to lead a private life. Within the outskirts of Barton he opened up a shop that sold all of the junk that no one wanted at discounted prices. If people didn't want the junk in his trunk, he'd be able to convince them otherwise, guaranteed. Soon he would gain many followers, some of who even called him 'lord', as he entered the competition with Frontier Skies. One year later, he would even compete in Lady Rina's pie-eating contest, qualifying within the top six to continue. A noble feat for a noble elk, though none of these achievements matter. For Lord Carl the Elk, nothing matters anymore but a thirst for vengeance. A thirst for blood, bunnies, and meat pies...this was what held the wrath...of Carl. --
