Sergal Wars

For as long as anyone can remember the Sergals of the North and the Sergals of the South have been at war. Though throughout the years the exact reason for the war has been lost. Legends and rumors have arisen, but no one can find the exact reason, or if there is a reason at all. When two Sergals meet of the North and the South can they find a reason to fight? And can they get past their differences to find the true reason of the war?

Jelena kept her head low as she lurked around the small bushes. This was not good. She was in Northern territory, but had no choice but to come there. She was low on food and refused to lose her game. She had killed it but now found herself in the enemy's area. She could see the spot that the Southern territory started. She just had to get back...

Jelena froze in her tracks. Was that the sound of leaves crunching? Footsteps? Had she been found? She hit the ground the moment the scent of another sergal found its way to her nose. They found me. she thought, horrified. Slinking silently to a bush to think. She didn't have any weapons. Her claws and teeth had been enough to take down the game she now held in her hand. Maybe if she left it there and run they would let her be. No, she couldn't do that. This was her first kill in days. She needed this. She took a deep breath. Fighting then.
Well, no. She was in no condition to fight. Especially since she was basically unarmed. but She was a Southern Sergal and they would be a Northern Sergal. She was smaller, and smaller meant faster. If she could just make it to the border before being caught she would be fine. Now or never, then. she thought, peeking up from the bush to see if she could spot them. Her eyes found another pair of eyes from behind a tree. She gasped, frozen for a moment in fear before dashing off, headed for the border. If she was caught, she was dead.

The smaller sergal heard him persuing her and looked back. He was closing in fast, and she stood no chance of escape. Her legs were built for small long sprints not long-winded races. She would not make it to her territory in time. "He must be a soldier patrolling the area... she thought. "If I'm caught they'll take me back to the General... She looked around then suddenly veered left, scurrying up a tree. She went high with ease, for she was small and light. She could travel fast in the treetops. He, on the other hand, would not be so agile.

Burning, glowing eyes tracked the southern sergal, but his body could not keep up with the instantaneous change in direction. In mid tackle, Azura twisted his body in an attempt to follow and to avoid injuring himself when he hit the ground. His right shoulder slammed against the dirt and the leaves going nearly 30 miles per hour, making a small cut in his shirt and in his skin. With no wasted movement, he was running again, this time with his blazing blade in hand. His facial expression showed intense rage as his muscles seemed to slightly bulge. The knife came slashing through the tree that the other sergal climbed up. At 4000 degrees Fahrenheit, the blade cut through a third of the wide trunk like a red hot knife through soft butter, and instantly charred the wound. Any sparks that were flung from the poor tree were vaporized midair. He slashed a couple more times and the large tree violently came crashing to the ground. In the dead and fallen tree, there was nothing. Azura looked up into the trees and saw nothing but leaves. He could hear rustling but could not see the small sergal. Still enraged, the knife came swinging toward the next tree over but stopped short, and with a sigh, the massive sergal sheathed it. Calm now in mind, he knew what he was going to do. He would run ahead and cut off the southern sergal at the border. Dirt kicked up as the northern sergal began sprinting for the border.

Liquid blue eyes glanced back as she heard the other tree come crashing to the ground. Of course by that time she was two or three trees away already. She smirked to herself. He was all too slow. Her eyes focused ahead now, her feet skilfully landing on one branch just as fast as they leapt off of it. She did not notice the cloud of dust coming up beside the trees, because just beyond that break in the leaves was her territory. She leapt through the gap, seeing the border. She just had a little more to go. But as she landed she smelled him. He was close. Too close for her to escape from, and she was in very big trouble.

((Sorry about my delay as well. I've been away from the guild for a while sweatdrop And you are doing fine. I'll let you know if you're not.))

Jelena watched as she climbed down from the tree, carefully serveying the area. No signs of movement. No hostility. Maybe she was close enough to the border to scare him off. She sure hoped so. Tentatively, still holding her kill, she took a step onto the ground, keeping er ears up and staying alert as she walked.

As she neared the border she stopped, sniffing. her body went cold. He was close. Very close. She continued to walk, her feet silent on the ground, her stride speeding up. She could see the border. Almost there...just a few more steps.

At the words, Jelena stopped short. She cursed under her breath as she lifted her hands above her head, throwing the fox to the ground. She was caught. And there was no point in running anymore. "Okay." she said, kicking the fox away. That's what she got for not paying attention where her prey led her, "No more running."
