Ponyville Ranch was known through Kodo as one of the largest and most beautiful on the island.
It was home to the largest herd of Rapidash and Ponyta on the island, and was famous for its exquisite breeding program. From prowess in battle to the elegant designer coloration that deviated from the breed's standard colors.

The stretches of archers covered sweeping hills and plains with lush wind swept grass where the herd spent their day playing and grazing.
At the far north of the property was the barn, a bright red structure that met guests and tours as they approached.

A large portion of the ranch was fenced off, mostly to indicate to the Rapidsh and Ponyta where the property boarders were, not that the fence could stop any of them from leaving if they really wanted too, not that many wished to with as wonderful a home as they had here.

Among the individuals of the herd, were the Rance's prized mares, a couple of sisters in fact.
The youngest was a Ponyta colored like the early night sky, and the younger, a Rapidash with the colors of a bright day.

Luna, and Celestia.

Celestia was a wide, patient and compassionate Rapidash, and through this had gained the love and respect from the other horses in the herd. She was always willing to help when there was a problem, or when someone just needed to be heard. She gave good advice, and was always a kind and loving Rapidash.
The others saw her as something of a leader to the herd because of this, and they loved her as deeply as she cared for all of them.

It was in the middle of the day, and a tour of school children had just finished filing into the bus that would take them back to school.
While they were here, the herd had been busy with the excited children, giving the young humans affection and accepting treats that the ranch owner had laid out for the children to give.

Celestia, one that was always very gentle with the younger visitors was brought out so that the children could meet her, and learn a few things about Rapidash, and how to care for one.

It had been nice seeing the little ones, but after such a long day, Celestia was grateful to be able to relax in the fields and spend her late afternoon grazing with her sister.

While Celestia had been specifically brought out to meet the children, Luna had obviously come too, although she wasn't as popular with the children. Oh, of course a very few of them preferred her, but that was probably mostly because she wasn't anywhere near as big as her elder sister just yet, as she was still a slender Ponyta. It was the same with the other herd members too, she couldn't help but notice. While they did like her - or at least, she assumed they did - they loved Celestia more and always went to her with their troubles, their concerns, their gifts, their everything. If they just wanted to talk, they went to Celestia. They only went to Luna to ask if she thought her older sister would listen to their plight or to tell her how lucky she was to have the beautiful Rapidash as a sister. While she always agreed, it wasn't nearly as heartfelt as it used to be. Something more bitter had taken root in her heart, and it was slowly blooming into a displeased resentment.

Despite the growing bitterness in her heart, deep down she still loved her sister, and had quickly acquiesced when Celestia had asked her to join for an early afternoon graze after the children had left. She plucked at the blades of grass half-heartedly for a while, eyes narrowed in thought for a while before she finally gave up with a frustrated sigh. She kicked a small hoof at the dirt before she looked at her elder sister. Suddenly all the words she'd planned to say disappeared from her thoughts, leaving her at a loss for words to stumble through. "Why do.." She frowned. "Sister, why does everyone love you most?"

Celestia loved her little sister, very dearly, It was probably that love that was keeping Celestia blind to the fact that there was something wrong, a chosen ignorance in favor of thinking that her sister was happy and everything was okay.
Celestia was a popular Pokemon, she had more problems to deal with then just her own.
So when Luna asked her the question about everyone loving her most, the Rapidash lifted her head.
"What do you mean by that Luna?" she asked, in a gentle, kindly tone. though still puzzled by the question.

"It's just..." It was all so clear to her, how obvious it was that everyone loved her elder sister so much more than her, how they always went to her with everything, how much they doted on and loved her... It just wasn't fair! Why couldn't Celestia see it as easily as she could? "It's just... Ugh!" She huffed out, ears flicking back as she stamped a small hoof. It thudded noiselessly into the soft grass, rather than making a dramatic noise like she was hoping for. She found her words again after a few moments, shifting her gaze to focus back on her sister again. "Why does everyone go to you with all of their problems and everything?" Unfortunately for Luna, her question could very easily be misconstrued as frustration at the other ponies rather than at her sister or her situation.

Celestia blinked, watching her sister, and looking very surprised.
"Luna..." Celectia started in a warm voice, stepping forward to approach her sister and try to give her a comforting nuzzle.
"Everyone could use someone to depend on, and go to when they need help. Its part of being a herd."
She tilted her head, looking down at her sister with gentle eyes "I like to help others little sister, I guess thats why they come to me."

"I know, but they always come to you," she said with a frown. "They never come to me - I like to help too!" The only time they ever came to her was to ask about or talk of Celestia. Celestia this, Celestia that - poor little Luna was feeling distinctly overshadowed by her elder sister. Even though it was through no fault of her own, Celestia was making her little sister even more frustrated. Why couldn't she see it too?!

The Ponyta sighed when her sister nuzzled her - she allowed it, but she didn't return it - and focused at the grass between her hooves. "I like to help too, but despite that everyone always comes to you - why is that?"

The question was a fare one, and Celestia smiled gently at her younger sister, understanding her frustration.
"Over time and experience sister, you learn a lot of things about this world, and your friends in it. I've been doing this a long time, helping the ones I care about, but I started just like you, young."
She lifted her head a little, tilting her muzzle to the side. "Start out small, and just learn as you go. alright?"

"Alright," Luna huffed sullenly, frowning down at the grass off to one side. It still wasn't fair - she was getting older and more experienced, and yet everyone always went to her sister!

And they always would, she realized. Because no matter how much older or how much more experienced or wise she got, Celestia would always be older and smarter and wiser and more experienced. Always, always, always. Because she was older.

It just wasn't fair!
