It was well past noon, and though Willow had usually stopped at least once by the time the sun reached its peak, she had yet to do so today. She didn't seem too bothered, though perhaps she was only temporarily distracted. A few more steps and her stomach was starting to rumble. The doe made an exasperated little sound under her breath. Right now she didn't feel much like stopping. It was a nice day and the walk had been pleasant, even if she had been up since early morning and her legs were almost begging her to take a load off. Alright, she decided. Just a while more and she would rest.

It wasn't unusual to see her walking slowly, she rather enjoyed taking in all the sights and sounds unhindered. What was there to hurry for? However, as she neared the point where rest would be all but a necessity, she had slowed considerably. Now she was looking around, hoping to find somewhere to lay that was both comfortable and could supply her with something tastier than leaves to eat. She would settle for one or the other, she supposed, but it never hurt to try.

User Image There was a certain interest in following things that made such an effort to get away. He had spent nearly the entire morning trailing languidly after a frog or a bird -- at one point he might have been following his shadow -- and had quite lost sight of his latest guide. The one on his heels, a sulking mass of tan fur, was seemingly content to follow for the time being. It was probably a rotten idea but he was obliged to be able to wander to and fro with such freedom. The other day the cat had been so insistent that he lead, yowling in such distaste whenever a hoof fell out of line. In hindsight, the cat was probably wise to lead them to a pond teeming with clean water because he had forgotten to drink and eat so absorbed in watching a caterpillar spin a cocoon.

This day provided no such steady interest. And the beast seemed happy as he -- the kin, not the cat -- had lapped up water and even taken a large mouthful of berries before setting off. However having lost sight of the damselfly, he was walking even more aimlessly. His hooves seemed to travel an invisible line as he looked this way and that way. His eyes settled briefly on a doe -- oh what a pretty teal, he thought -- and then flicked away. He traveled past without a word, a vivid red trailed by spotted tan. And quite far out of sight, his hooves turned. And turned. And turned. For once, his name was quite literal as he began to turn in a grand circle without notice.

Among a nest of mossy tree roots, Willow settled, a branch spotted with berries in her mouth. This was most definitely her lucky day. As her aching legs rested and her rumbly stomach finally calmed, she thought about how nice it might be to rest here. Yes, she decided eventually, a nap was in order. But first, a drink.

Rising with a full-bodied stretch, she glanced around, and that was when she caught a splash of intense color through the trees. Willow had to double take.

It wasn't that spotting kin among the underbrush was unusual, but as she trained her eyes on him, she realized how familiar he was. It wasn't because she knew him, she didn't, but Willow swore up and down he was the very same kimeti she saw traveling in that very same direction while she gathered her meal earlier.

Had he really turned around and gone back only to turn again? It hadn't been that long since Willow sat down to eat. Curious, she watched him amble along.

Indeed, he had and he began once more to subtly (or, rather not-at-all subtly to anyone watching him) turn in a circle. Granted it was a large roundabout that seemed to revolve around the teal doe--it wasn't something he noticed, although the cheetah behind him seemed to as it cast furtive glances at her.

Eventually, he paused, looking up and spying the bright threads of green spread on her coat. His tail swished slow, head tilting to the side.

"Hello; are you looking for your sister? Or mother?"
