It was a bright and hot sunny day out as the preliminary round of the tournament began. The rays beat down on the crowd and heated up the platinum surface of the fighting area, making it painfully hot to the touch for most. The crowd all cheered as the ceremonies began, to excited for the tournament to be brought down by the heat of the day. Soundly a booming voice ran out from seemingly everywhere at once. "attention all. The tournament preliminary rounds shall now begin. May the first combatants please step up to the gates and await the start of the battle. Ladies and gentlemen I present our first fight. Zae'el Tsundari Vs. Shinra Gosei"

Suddenly the two gates swung open. From the first stepped out the man designated as Zae'el Tsundari, a tall man garbed in red robes with similarly red bandages covering his face. What shown of his skin was very dark, and his eyes glowed yellow, a stark contrast to his attire. It was clear to everyone present that this mysterious figure was some sort of demon, and appropriate to as he fought under the flag of Konton. However in reality this man was non other than Ras'kar Zenbon, Kyuui of Gaman. Having failed to infiltrate the castle once in an attempt to free the orphans kidnapped by the Queen of Konton, Ras'kar decided on a different approach. He entered the tournament under a false identity hoping that by showing off his skills in the tournament he would be able to prove himself strong enough to be brought into the queen's guard, thus granting him access to the castle once more.

The second gate opened up and out stepped Shinra Gosei, who ironically enough was one of the demons Ras'kar had imitated in order to wonder around the city freely. The man looked tough, though looking strong was a trait most demons shared and didn't really mean much when it came down to it. The two stared at each other from across the battlefield until the announcer offically started the match. Immediately Shinra rushed forward towards him. Ras'kar however merely stood stoically as his opponent approached. This served two purposes, first to make himself look fearless and calm during battle, a trait which would be highly valued when looking for a guard. Second it meant that instead of running out and meeting his opponent in the middle Shinra now had to run the entire span of the battle grounds to reach him, which meant spending double the energy while Ras'kar spent none.

Shinra reached Ras'kar and dug his heal firmly into the ground and threw a powerful punch towards his face. Ras'kar however stood with his hands held behind him and leaned his head to the side, dodging the blow completely. Then before Shinra could correct himself Ras'kar grabbed his arm and using his own momentum against him flipped the man onto his back. "the violent bull allways gets trumped by the patient matador." he said looking down at his opponent. "it would be wise to remember that my friend" he said kneeling down and placing his hand over Shinra's face. Suddenly his hand began to spark with red lightning, violently shocking Shinra causing him to convulse and writhe in pain for a few moments before falling unconscious. Ras'kar stood up and walked away from his opponent, leaving him there for the medics to recover. "and there you have it folks! the first match goes to Zae'el Tsundari!" the announcer belowed as Ras'kar disappeared into the gate.
