[PRP] That's A Nice Rapidash You Have There

A couple days after the failed experiment, Rory was still getting flakes of fire suppressant out of his hair. After being couped up in the HQ building for most of the day, he decided to go outside for a little while. He blinked as he took in the sight of the lowering sun as he turned his Ponyta loose so she could run around for a little while; it had been a couple of days since she had been able to go outside with him. He had submitted his report on the experiment the day before. Hopefully, despite the incident, they would be permitted to continue and, hopefully, with a better machine.

He slightly wondered though if it would be a good idea to get the DNA sample they needed from the lab. Arceus knows what the samples had been through. Maybe they would be better off if they could find a Rapidash. He didn't think there would be any running wild out here in the desert but one couldn't really know for sure. Then he wondered if he knew anyone that had a Rapidash and would be willing to donate a bit of their pokemon's genetic makeup.

Lately, Kratos was finding it difficult to give Kellan the room he needed to run and burn off some of his overabundant energy. He simply didn't have the time he needed between his own investigations and his official organizational duties. Fortunately, however, this hadn't been one of those far too busy days, and he intended to let his rapidash take full advantage of having space to properly run. So it was that he headed out into the heat of the evening desert, most of his pokémon sequestered away neatly either in their pokéballs or in his quarters (Miette and Iris were the only two in the latter category), releasing Kellan from his pokéball as soon as there was enough room.

As soon as he was released, the rapidash nickered and looked to his trainer, dark eyes questioning. Was there something he needed to do? Or could he just go wild? His answer came soon enough, in the form of a soft but audible "Go," from his trainer. Needing no more encouragement, Kellan took off at a run, racing through the desert as fast as his hooves could carry him - only to stop abruptly at the sight of a particular pretty pink ponyta that he recognized.

The rapidash whinnied, trying to catch Pinkie's attention, and it was at roughly the same moment that Kratos noticed Rory's presence out here as well. It seemed he wasn't the only one who had brought his pokémon out for a run.

Pinkie stretched when she was released out of her 'ball and started roaming around, sniffing at the ground. There was a strange scent out here that seemed to be familiar. She shook the thought off; it was probably just the other pokemon that belonged to the people her Rory worked with. She looked up from the sand to see a Rapidash staring at her. "Hi?"

As Pinkie roamed around Rory turned his thoughts to the people he had met so far. Shadow didn't have a Rapidash or a Ponyta with him, Ally had a baby Ponyta. It probably wouldn't be good to use the baby pokemon in the experiment though. Who else? He wasn't sure what kind of pokemon KO had. As he tried to remember everyone he had met on base, he looked back out where his pokemon was and spotted another pokemon near her.

His eyes widened and he felt a small grin form. It was a Rapidash! He looked around to see if he could spot whoever it belonged to and seen in the dim light the red hair of Kratos.

Kellan snorted and tossed his head, trying to convey that he had run over here just to see her. After all, she was such a pretty ponyta, and - and okay, this wasn't really working, was it? The rapidash nickered, his weak attempts at showing off leaving him embarrassed, and he instead offered a more subdued greeting. If an equine pokémon could blush, he'd be doing it.

Kratos noticed Rory looking in his direction and offered the blond a nod, but made no move to approach the other Roket just yet. He was more interested in his own thoughts and in observing his pokémon than in seeking out conversation. If he was approached, however, he was willing to make conversation.

Pinkie's eyes lit up at the sight of the Rapidash. She recognized him! He was the friendly Rapidash she had met int he training room. She let out a cheerful cry and nuzzled him in excitement. She was excited to see him again.

It was worth a shot. Right? The worst thing he could do was say no. Rory took a deep breath in through his nose and released it slowly before walking over to the other Rocket. He stood next to him and watched the two pokemon in the distance.

"Hey."

Kellan nickered again, this time in a more inviting tone. He was so glad to see Pinkie again! She was such a pretty ponyta, and so nice, he would never forget their brief meeting. How had she been? Was she okay? Did she want to walk with him? He would love her company for a little while, if it was alright with her!

So Rory was approaching him. Kratos wasn't really bothered by the prospect of conversation with him, but he was somewhat curious about what could possibly draw the blond to him. Certainly it wasn't for the sake of company - the redhead was no fool and was quite aware that his behavior could be perceived as (and indeed, sometimes was) standoffish by others. It was one of the reasons why he had so few friends in the organization.

The obvious answer, then, was that the other Rocket had something that he wanted from him. What that could possibly be, Kratos had no idea, but it was the clearest reason that he could think of. Hopefully, it would be something that was neither pressing nor full of obligations. If it was either, he would... deal with it, but he had been looking forward to having some time to work with his personal project. Along with trying to persuade Miette to learn at least one decent attack move so that she wouldn't be utterly defenseless, as much as it pained both of them to consider the idea.

But that was neither here nor there, and he had things to be doing. Like greeting the approaching blond.

"Good evening."

Of course she would love to walk with him! Pinkie was exuberant at seeing her newest friend again and she found herself trotting in place in excitement. She nickered back at him as she nodded. She had been fine although her boy had been working too much, at least she thought, and how was he?

After greeting Kratos and receiving one in return, Rory contemplated how to best go about asking his question. It wasn't the easiest thing to do, especially since he didn't know the other grunt that well.

"How's it going?" he asked, sticking with small talk as he played over his options in his head before finally sucking it up, "Can I ask you a favor?"
