It had been two weeks since that shuttle was shot down by the orbital guns, infected were as dangerous as ever and the survivors still were huddled in small groups. But, something had changed the SRC scientist in charge f weapons labs had revolted and was gathering all the survivors he cold. 'Strength in numbers' as they say. He ha used what was left of the colony's old PA system to ask everyone to come to the secondary spaceport. "If we all work together it will be simpler and we will stand a better chance of survival." If you hear this message try to get to the spaceport, if you are willing to work you will find safety if you want trouble you will find there are more dangerous things than the planet's indigenous life or the infected.
the power source for the colony was a huge array of solar collection dishes that had been automated to track the sun. Cheaper and easier to instal than fission or fusion power generators the solar collection field covers several acres and is blinding if one does not where protective glasses when traversing it. Near the power transfer station itself is a behemoth of an unfinished building. It was to be the colonies first fission generator but it was never finished. The fungal infection struck when it was only three quarters finished. Now it lies as a monument to the fact that humans are still not the completely dominant power in the universe. But, the solar collectors keep on functioning and the automation keeps on running but there is no one to fix the damaged dishes now and the power will have to run out eventually. after a year and a half many of the lines are down and only certain section and building in the colony still have access to power.
