Days off were rare and precious when you were a Trainee, but the chance to sleep in was non-existent or it was for him at any rate. This was for two reasons: one, most of his roommates did not have the day off and had woken him up as they clattered about getting ready for the day; two, the roommate who did also have the day off snored like a Snorlax. Unable to get back to sleep therefore he'd been up at dawn, but he comforted himself with the fact that an early start meant more time in the city.

Shopping.

There had been sales at a fabric shop, allowing him to pick up some material for himself as well as what he needed for the couple of commissions he'd got recently. Then there had been a gorgeous pair of brown leather shoes he hadn't been able to pass up, then general browsing around, a nice lunch at a sushi bar and then more shopping. As evening drew around the bags were starting to feel heavy and KO headed down a mostly deserted street towards the parking lot where he'd left his borrowed car. Drop off the bags and then go and find his car; take him for a spin and check everything was still in perfect condition.

That sounded like the perfect end to a perfect day; his imagination was free to decide what he would create for himself out of the fabric he'd bought (maybe something to match the shoes, the colours he'd got should work), and he'd had good food and he felt good and he looked good. This last part was the main reason for the penultimate item on the list; he had his smart-casual white pants and waistcoat on today with shiny black shoes (slightly pointed toe) and a deep red shirt with gold cuff-links to go with his gold earring.

As he strolled along KO mused that when he eventually got back to base he might even be able to stomach the cafeteria food and his disgusting roommates with good grace; his mood was wholly contented and there wasn't a thing in sight to spoil it!

Not a thing in sight - that was something that didn't really apply to Tact. He, like his owner, had little of his namesake; Sera's lack of it was ingrained, while he, well.. Pokemon don't always need tact for things. Recent events, however, had led to him being not only blind, as Zubats are, but with a hurt wing (he refused to not fly) and also left him partially hard of hearing. Oh, volume and that was still perfectly fine, the only thing bothering him was the fact one ear looked like it had deflated and was folded over, the tip flopping limply whenever he had to stop short or something. Which was a lot.

It was hard to fly around with a sprained wing. It was even hard with one ear only half-functional when you move about by echolocation.

A sharp, high-pitched shriek sounded from somewhere nearby, coupled with an exasperated "Jacques!" and a desperate fluttering of wings. Shortly after a small series of soft squeaks lead a small Zubat zig-zagging directly towards (he thought he'd miss it by a mile, no problem) KO's head.

"Gah!"

Having a bat fly directly at his head at high speed had not been something he'd expected out of today. KO ducked at the last possible moment and the small pokemon zoomed overhead, close enough to ruffle his hair. Straightening up again he spun around and released Duke from his pokeball, not quite sure at if he was under attack or not. If he was it was a pretty pathetic excuse for an attack... and there had been that voice. "Watch for the bat," he ordered Duke, making a sharp gesture in the direction it had careered off in and then turning back around to see who had shouted.

If he was under attack he was going to have to drop his bags.

If he came to that he hoped the contents didn't spill all over the street; if any of his purchases got ruined there was going to be hell to pay!

The first wave of offense - the pitiful Zubat - careened off to the side after feeling a few strands of hair softly graze his belly and hearing the exclamation from the unseen person he thought he wasn't anywhere near, and in his confused, disoriented state he veered straight into the nearest wall and collapsed in a pathetic heap on the ground. The squeak he let out afterwards matched how pathetic he looked. At least Duke wouldn't have to look too hard - or look at all, really. Tact didn't go very far, if you didn't count the distance from head-height to the pavement.

The second wave of offense consisted of a snickering white Zorua, who jumped out from behind a corner of an intersecting street and attempted to bound away. Another cry of "Jacques!" followed after him before a girl stepped out from the same corner. She emerged with a hand in her purse, but it was only in there a split second before she pointed the item she'd grabbed - a luxury ball - at the swiftly departing Zorua. He quickly disappeared. With a huff, the girl put the ball away and cast her pale green eyes around for another target --

-- which she quickly found behind this strange man. She approached with a sigh, not displaying any body language that suggested she was about to attack or otherwise physically bother this person. Instead, she stopped short of the group by a few feet, and looked between the incredibly stylish man, his Raichu, and the pathetic Zubat on the ground. She pursed her lips before looking back up at the man. Either she was about to accuse him of attacking her pokemon, or -- "Did he bump into you? He kind of sucks at flying right now." -- evasively apologize for (or at least partially explain) her pokemon's behavior.

When the girl appeared she got a quick look up and down, and was categorized just as quickly; has style, potentially worth talking to. KO brushed his fingers through his hair and shook his head. "No he missed, narrowly." After giving the stranger a more careful look over he cocked his head and gestured fluidly at her. "Sweet heels; are they 'Chus? You certainly know how to match an outfit." Cuts and colours that flattered her shape and complexion too; was it possible that he'd found the first civilized person on Kodo outside of the Prism?

Now that it seemed tensions had diffused Duke padded over to the slumped Zubat and peered at it with slightly offhand concern.

When her question was answered in the negative, she merely nodded and sighed lightly. "Good," was her curt response. Now she wouldn't have to get into an argument with this guy over him getting injured (yeah right) from her pathetic little Zubat. She was about to say something else when he motioned at her and commented on her shoes, and she gave a visible start at this. Clearly Seraphine had not expected a compliment, especially not from an older man ('older man' in her terms meaning 'any male over the age of 22 or 23'), and she took a few moments to not so discreetly look him over. It was then she finally noticed his brilliant fashion sense, and how incredibly well he wore his clothes. They looked awesome on him, though she couldn't place the style exactly - though women's clothes were more her forte than men's clothes.

"They are," she said finally, extending a foot and twisting it a bit to show them off as if that would verify their brand. "And I should hope so - fashion is my passion." She replaced her foot and paused, watching him. "Your taste in outfits is impeccable too," the brunette offered. She certainly didn't offer compliments like that every day. "I don't think I've seen an outfit quite like that before - where did you get it?" Although it was entirely possible it had been custom made, in which case her esteem for him would go up considerably.

Tact groaned softly and flopped onto his stomach, his ears twitching backwards.

Ah good, he was right; mistaking them would have been embarrassing. When the girl commented on his clothes KO grinned, shifting his stance to show off the well tailored garments and inspecting his nails. "Not surprised you haven't seen the outfit before; I made it myself, tailoring's quite the hobby of mine," he replied casually. "They do say if you want something done right you have to do it yourself, and that's especially true of menswear. Choices tend to be terribly limited, you know? I can never get something off the peg that fits me just right, or that fits my personal tastes." Other than socks and underwear that was but he didn't feel the need to bring that up with somebody he'd just run into in the street, especially somebody who was turning out to be worthwhile.

"The name's Kirk by the way," KO added, "pleased to meet somebody on this island who knows how to coordinate."
