I need help. My friends house was robbed. They had a laptop that was stolen and a bunch of jewelry that was stolen. Anyone know a way to track their stuff down? Once I get the brand of laptop and the type of jewelry I will be all over Craigslist and ebay. Anyone else know other means of looking for this stuff?

Does the laptop have some tracker thing in it? I could be wrong, but since phones have them(not all)... confused
If the jewerly is engraved,it might make it easier to look for them.
Oh and if there are a bunch of pawn shops around the area, try those.
They don't always go to the internet to sell of their stolen goods.

Not unless they have the serial number off of the stolen laptop then no. They also might try checking local pawn shops.

*sigh* the laptop has no form of tracking software in it. I'm not sure about the jewelry, I'll ask.

Do they still have any of the paperwork that came with the laptop that might have ID numbers?

Does your friend know their IP address? It can be tracked if somebody has been using it.

IPv4 addresses change every time you access a different network. And I keep coming across guides on how to change a PCs MAC address (physical hardware adress) online so even that isn't reliable.
