Is it an odd thing that my poetry is sometimes depressing when I wouldn't normally say I'm a depressed person? Some of it I had written in high school and i got picked on a lot, but writing helped me to get my emotions out.

Not really. Writing is an expression, so it stands to reason that it should be expressive. Poetry in particular.

ok because i showed a couple of my poems to someone and they were like why are you so dark and depressing and i didn't know how to answer them
