There was a boxy television suspended from the ceiling a distance away from the bed, it's screen illuminated to some random documentary about flora in Johto and the accompanying sound muted. Luke obviously hadn't invested much attention in it; it was probably set to whatever channel the last passing nurse set it to when she turned it on out of courtesy. "Yeah, maybe. It's easy to just zone out and sort of fall asleep, though. I'll probably give it a better try once I'm conscious more often."

At the television - and its current channel, but mostly the television - Sera made a face. Ugh, it was so... so small. And old, thought the brunette who was used to extremely large, flatscreen TV's in practically every room of her old house. She turned to him when he began speaking again, and she nodded in agreement. "Yeahh, if you're stuck in bed for a while it gets really boring. It is easy to just sleep off and on a lot." She'd never had any broken bones, but she'd been really sick quite a few years back, now that she thought of it, probably with the flu or something, and had been restricted to her bed for the better part of a week. It was so boring.

She made a soft noise, almost like a short hum, and tilted her head a bit. "Want me to change the channel for you or something?" Because how he could even stand to have that aimed in his general direction, she had no idea. How he could even stand to have a TV that small, she had even less of an idea. That is, if it was even possible to have negative ideas.

He nodded slightly in confirmation of her words; often he wasn't aware that he had fallen asleep until he was waking up. Not being in pain was a good thing, but it felt awfully lazy to just sleep for most of the day.

It took a few moments for Luke to understand what she was asking - first he had to realize the television was turned on already, then that it was set to something that was quite possibly even more boring than staring at the plain white walls, and finally that she was talking about it in mentioning channels. "Sure," he said. "Yeah. Thanks."

(The technical drawing of a bisected aspear berry panning slowly across the screen seemed somehow sad at this.)

Technical drawing of a bisected aspear berry be damned, Sera was changing that channel. She responded to his partially disjointed words with a simple nod as she stood and pulled a chair over to the TV so that she'd actually be able to reach it (she'd worn smaller heels today), and once she could do so it only necessitated a quick glance to find the right button, and the brunette began flipping channels. She quickly realized, however, that she knew exactly what she would want to watch, but also realized that what she wanted to watch probably wasn't what Luke wanted to watch.

"Let me know if you see anything you like, I guess," she added with a one-shouldered shrug as she continued to flip up through the channels.

It was extremely unlikely that Luke would be able to make an intelligent choice about what kind of channel would or wouldn't be interesting. This likelihood was further decreased - or proven, rather - by the fact that he did not respond to Seraphine's question as a result of having slipped into slumber once again, the book still laying open in his lap. He had already overreached his physical capacities for a while.

She continued to flip channels on the assumption he would acknowledge what she said or ask about a channel or something, but after a good ten seconds of unresponsiveness she frowned and turned to look at him, her mouth open to say his name in a question.

But he was asleep.

Well, that explained it.

The frown remained briefly, but she slid her fingers along the row of buttons and hit the power one instead, shutting the pitifully small system off before carefully getting down from the chair. The brunette stood near the end of his bed and tilted her head a bit in thought, wondering just how quickly he fell asleep since he'd given absolutely zero indication of hearing what she'd said. Ugh, changing all those channels for nothing...

What had he been reading? Mostly out of pure boredom and an intense desire to not go back up to her father's room until she absolutely had to, Sera moved to the side of his bed to very carefully remove the book from his person, taking care to avoid waking him. Her pale eyes roamed over the page he'd been on very briefly before she made a soft noise - not fashion, therefore not caring - and closed it gently before she set it on the table next to his bed. At least that way, she figured, when he woke up it wouldn't be like... on the floor or some s**t if he ended up rolling over. What with all the crap around his bed that was hooked up into him, it was very probable that he'd have to wait for a nurse to get it for him if it fell so clearly, she was doing him a favor and he should be damn grateful for it.

Except he was still asleep.

Wow okay this was much more boring now, Sera decided after less than a quarter of a second, although it was still a hell of a lot better than being up in her father's room, where he was all upset and anxious and her mom wouldn't stop rambling and the whole thing just made her nervous and she hated it. So instead, she slipped into one of the few chairs again and pulled out her phone, and began to text quietly while she waited for her mother's inevitable 'where did you go we're leaving now' text to arrive.
