[FIN] Definitely Not Okay

Sera merely nodded before heading towards the theater. The movie in question was decided upon, tickets were bought, popcorn and drinks acquired, and the room was found and the film was watched. Almost two hours passed before the pair would find themselves outside once again, and the sun had moved quite a bit closer to the horizon in that time.

"Well that was fun," the brunette said, then she looked to Luke and asked, "so how d'you feel?"

It had been pitifully difficult to concentrate on the movie, which of course had only resulted in more self-abusive thoughts ("here's someone trying to do something nice for you and you can't even pay attention; A+ work you ungrateful idiot"). By the time they exited the theater, he had somehow convinced himself that he was entirely undeserving of sharing company with anyone. He didn't want, however, for Seraphine to to think that her efforts had been completely wasted, and so he voiced the first unconvincing lie that came to mind, "Bit better. Thanks. And, uh… sorry about earlier."

Well... He didn't look better, but that was understandable. She didn't think she ever felt completely better after Anastasia was stolen, after all. "That's good. And," she added after a pause and a dismissive wave of her hand, "no problem. s**t happens." The brunette waited a few moments before she said, "That's what friends are for."

There was a moment of silence while, for once, an expression other than grief marked his features: a slight surprise, accompanied by a sudden recognition and a small embarrassment, that faded to a fragile warmth. His perception of Seraphine had always been as someone who had an unshakably bad impression of him and who had long since permanently categorized him as an acquaintance but who tolerated his company on grounds of a mutual friendship with Rosie. Confirmation that she felt otherwise was at the very least marginally heartening. "Thanks."

She didn't quite get the change in his features, but he still looked at least a little better. She offered him a small, hopeful smile. "Well anyway, it's kinda late now," she observed after a cursory glance at the dimming light from the setting sun, "so I'll see you later? You can always text me," the girl added after a brief, thoughtful pause.

He forced a smile in reply, though it came more easily than it had earlier, and nodded, "Yeah, later. And thanks again. I'll keep it in mind." He usually only utilized text messages to request meetings with others or deliver urgent news, so it was easy to forget that the mode of communication had a social merit as well. With an internal attempt to commit the fact to memory, he raised a hand slightly in farewell and turned to head on his way.

"Yeah," she offered in reply with a smile, then raised a hand in a wave. "See you later."
