[FIN] Nothing But Trouble

He grimaced as his posture was shifted, trembling significantly and drawing short, shallow breaths. He was spared the sight of Yuri in the aftermath of his fight by grace of failing sight. He expended his declining strength to reiterate the question left unanswered, his voice faint and the company of their friend unnoticed, "But are you and Yuri okay?"

"Luke, I'm fine, Yuri--" She paused, not daring to turn her eyes up to the man as he joined them. "Yuri is going to be fine. Just relax and try to stay awake. Help is on the way."

She kept a steady pressure on the scarf pressed to his side, her eyes locked on his face as she again brushed his bangs from his eyes and stroked his hair.

Outside, the sound of sirens could be heard in the distance.

Yuri sat there in silence, with Link and Repede hovering nearby. His eyes lifting when he heard the sirens coming their way. Dammit... couldn't they get here faster? Luke was fading fast and Yuri's grip tightened on his shoulder.

"I'm fine. Hang in there, Luke."

Again he looked to the bodies strewn about, frowning with little remorse. There was no help for guys like that. There was only one way to stop them.

Words that he would have liked to say idled out as thoughts that failed to reach his voice. It was okay even if he wouldn't be fine. The survival rate for transplant patients wasn't that high anyway. His death would be justice for the man he had slain in the past. It was fine.

Except that it wasn't fine, as he thought of his mother wishing him health, thought of his father hoping him the best, thought of finally getting along better with Asch, thought of having Mieu with him once more, thought of all the friends who had helped him and all the effort he'd invested and all the obstacles overcome for what? To die on the floor of some old warehouse, swaddled in dust and dirt and blood?

His features tensed in painful defiance. It wasn't fine, but his awareness was already slipping.

Dove continued to stroke his hair, hoping the slight affection could be comforting in some way as they waited for the ambulance. In the silence surrounding them, the emotions she had pushed aside before started to surface, her eyes prickling with tears as she waited for the emergency team to appear. She fought back mentally, not daring to lose her focus now, not in such a dire time.

Her head and heart pounded as she continued to watch over Luke, though her eyes flew to the door as a man appeared, this time, a police man, quickly followed by a medical response team. "Hang on Luke, help is here. You're going to be okay...They'll take care of you and I'll be right here." As one of the men in blue knelt by her and she was gently urged aside by a woman in the same uniform, she rose to her feet, stepping a few paces away as the team took control, the police man of the group immediately moving through the bloodied piles of bodies and training his eyes on the survivors.

Dove stood silently, her shoulders starting to shake as the weight of the emotions overwhelmed her, and she crossed her arms over her stomach in attempt to hold herself together. It was going to be a long, long night.

More policemen arrived on scene as the medics started to take Luke away. Seeing as Yuri had a bloodied weapon, they quickly started to deduce things. Although the man was unmoving, simply watching as Luke was rushed away.

There was some shouting and harsh voices, none of which he paid any attention to until his face was shoved into the floor. His arms held behind his back, he felt the cold steel of handcuffs before being yanked to his feet.

Link and Repede both snarled, ready to jump to Yuri's aid, but he quickly assured them it was fine as he was read his rights. Just before being forcibly hauled off. The two dogs just left standing there with Dove.
