Pawns of War
Our Story Begins...
In the kingdom of Argonnia, there had once been a time of total chaos. The king and his wife, both beautiful of face but malicious of heart, ruled with an iron fist and had brought their kingdom nothing but despair and destruction. As they started wars with their neighboring kingdoms, their armies were soon too spread out that they were losing control of their farthermost territories, and declared that all of their nobles, dukes, and other nobility must send their sons to the capitol to be trained as elite warriors known as knights.
With these warriors, they maintained the borders that continued to expand until the king and his wife were assassinated. After that, their nephew rose up to become the next king, and he would simply follow in their footsteps.
Alas, the nobles are running out of heirs of their own and many have resorted to adopting children from mines and foreign villages and sending them to take the place of their own children. Although some families have stuck to the "no women" code, a single family has sent in their only child, a daughter, to become a knight and stand for her family.
Dressed as a boy, she must go for an entire year of being a squire to one of the highest ranking, although youngest, knights that there are within the army.
A year is a long time to pretend to be of the opposite gender.
Shall emotions spring up?
Or shall her secret be discovered before she becomes a full knight?
