Team 7. Kakashi, Naruto, Sakura, and Shikamaru. Sent on a mission to protect an important person.This mission is of importance, if carried out correctly the Leaf Village will gain a new strong ally. Their mission is to transport someone from Konohagakure to Iwagakure. Along the way they are definitely going to meet a group of ninja opposed to this, hailing from a small village of their own, but the threat of this protected person is enough to shake fear into them.

Tsunade-sama sat at the desk, going through the discussion of which missions were to be assigned to which teams. Obviously the easiest ones were for the Genin, low-ranked missions which involved finding pets or doing local errands for the elderly. But today there was one mission that was of the up most importance. Such a mission that was discussed with all of her council, and there it was decided that it should go to the most top ranking ninja in the village. Undoubtedly this mission was more suited for Konohana spies, people that could transport this great figure with stealth; but for Tsunade, she had decided against this. Without telling her council, all but Shizune, she was now in the Hokage's office, steadily sitting at her chair while deep in thought. It wasn't every day that such a mission was called upon the Leaf Village, if carried out correctly, this would mean a new ally for the Leaf.
In the Hokage's office Tsunade wasn't alone, there was Shizune, but another shinobi from the Iwagakure village - Mai. Tsunade wasn't sure of her personality, but she thought that Mai was probably on task even now, standing on the far side of the Fifth Hokage's office waiting patiently to meet this team.

This team was to help Mai transport the person, of course Mai wasn't alone. Along with three other shinobi from the Iwagakure Village, but they weren't sure of their power or their opponents, so they hired Leaf ninja to help. This is where Team Seven came in. Under the radar Tsunade had requested Kakashi specifically, to carry out this mission. Since Sasuke was no longer there - and a taboo topic for Naruto and Sakura - they had recruited another member; Shikimaru.
Kakashi thought it best of using Shikimaru for this mission, with this thinking he was sure to plan out the most executed plan, whether that was defensive or offensive; he was obviously a reliable teammate.

The doors to Tsunade's office opened, in strutting Kakashi, Naruto, Sakura, and Shikimaru. "Tsuande-sama." Kakashi moved forward closer, the others standing a bit back and obviously noticing the new ninja in the room. He approached her desk, and there Tsunade straightened up more, able to finally discuss the mission openly. "Thank you for taking up this mission, there's no one I could think of more capable." Shizune shot her a worried look, but that was something Tsunade ignored, pressing on. "Everyone, this is Mai. She is the protectant of Iwagakure's Dōbutsu-hime."
Of course Shikimaru shot her side glance, inspecting the new comer, but he quickly looked back at the Hokage, digesting her words. " A Princess?"

Kakashi hadn't spoken, which meant that he was more informed than the three, but that just meant Tsunade wanted to tell the team personally. "Yes. A Princess."

Aw, what a drag. Shikimaru let out some air through his nose, not intentionally letting it slip that he was a bit displeased. A Princess, huh. I guess this won't be an easy mission, they wouldn't have needed me otherwise.

He was already assessing the situation, obviously the girl in the room - Mai - was working under the Dobutsu-hime. If they were from Iwagakure, most of the shinobi from there should have been enough, which means there was more to this mission than just transporting a Princess. Shikimaru's head tilted to the side, his hand sliding up his neck as it rested in the space between his shoulder and jaw. "There is a group opposed of the Dobutsu-hime being alive and well."
Ah, so that's it. Just as he thought, there was definitely more too it. What a drag. Shikimaru wasn't one to want to do duties, of course he would anyways, but not without being slightly annoyed. On any given day, he'd rather have been sitting around doing nothing, maybe hanging out with Choji or playing sho-go; but like any ninja he knew these missions were vital. "Kakashi will lead this team down, the Dobutsu-hime is waiting directly outside of the Leaf Village gate. Of course three other ninja are waiting with her, all of them special ninja from Iwagakure, but as far as we know, Mai is the only one to be trusted."
Shikimaru let his hand slip down, his head moving back to a straight position as he looked directly at the Hokage. Now the plot was really thickening, but why would they allow untrusted shinobi to be around such an important person? Shikimaru's eyes went back to the new ninja in the room. And if the ninja surrounding the Hime aren't to be trusted, all for her, why isn't she with the Princess right now?

"Understood. A simple transport mission, leave this to Team Seven." As always, Kakashi sounded confident, gracefully being acknowledged by the Hokage herself.

With a quick jump they were out the window, bouncing off rooftops toward the outskirt of the village. Once there he was sure they would go over a formation plan. If the guards surrounding the Princess weren't to be trusted, it would be wise to do a rotation of them and one of team seven. Already the gears were working in Shikimaru's head, just as they reached the outskirts of the Leaf.
They landed directly out of the gate, forming a single horizontal line and showcasing all of team seven. Right there stood three other ninja, and a small chariot that they were unable to see inside of. This was something he'd never seen before, a chariot for a Princess. Shikimaru had thought they'd be all making the journey together by foot, or at least a different method of transportation. "Greetings. I am Kakashi of the Leaf, and this is my team. Naruto. Sakura. and Shikimaru. We'll be with you on this journey."

The palaquin was seated on the floor and one of the ninja stepped up. His hair was white and he pushed his round glasses up his nose as he spoke, "It's good to see that you have accepted our request. We are the shinobi of Iwagakure, we'll also be with you on this journey." The man smiled, seemingly kind, but Tsunade's words rang in Shikimaru's ears - to be careful that they were not trusted. "Hm? And is the Princess..?" Kakashi had stepped forward, inching toward the chariot, but the white haired man had cut him off, stepping before it quickly. "The Dobutsu-hime cannot be seen, we would have thought your Hokage had explained." Now the man's eyes slit just a bit, almost as if he was ready to attack, but Kakashi was always quick to keep peace. The sensei's hands waved in front of his face, "Ah, no-no. Of course, just making sure." Even with a mask on you could see he was smiling, always trying to be a neutral member.

From behind the white-haired man another one spoke, stepping forward a bit to speak. "We should get on with this."
The white-haired man cleared his throat, pushing up his glasses again. "You're right. Forgive us for not introducing ourselves properly, I am Shiro. That is Ninchou, and Kagure." Shiro seemed to be in charge of the mission, the oldest among all the shinobi and possibly the highest rank. He was tall, and his hair white, reaching to his ears. Ninchou seemed to be the youngest, wielding a katana on his hip, his hair was black and kept short. Kagure appeared to be the strongest, the most muscular one of the group. "I'm sure you've already met Mai." Shiro's eyes had shifted toward their fourth member, before meeting back with Kakashi's. "We have," Kakashi said back with a bit of joy in his words. "Well, we have a long journey, let's begin." The team leader turned, facing the rest of his team. "Shikimaru, have you come up with a formation yet?"

His thumbs were hooked into his pockets, but he didn't even give a nod before speaking. "Naruto should be closest to the Palaquin, he's the best at reacting for any type of attack, especially during sage-mode. Sakura should be behind, the palaquin, if any one was to be injured her medical ninjutsu would come in handy. I'll be behind Sakura, able to trap enemies within my Shadow technique, and you being the most skilled will guard from the rear." Kakashi remained quiet for a minute, digesting the plan, it had sounded good enough for him, and then each member took their places.

Shiro, Kagure, and Ninchou picked up the palaquin, and everyone began walking.

Mai followed the others as they went, taking small glances at the others joining her team for the time being. She takes in the other's aura's easily, wanting to get to know them without having to be as social as she wanted to be.

The first that she noticed was the taller one, with the white hair. Kakashi... that's his name, right? She thought, registering the name along with the others that were there. He was confident, more confidence than she's ever really felt on another person. She also takes in that he has a Genkai... one that she never thought that she'd see on someone else, but who knew the relations? She knew that he was powerful, especially if he was able to handle that kind of power. Otherwise, he was someone to look up to.

The blonde one, Naruto as she's gathered, while having the same confidence level as his Sensei, was also prone to goofing off at times. He was also powerful, but for a totally different reason. She noticed that his power and his Sensei were... somehow, almost the same. It was odd for her, seeing that she hasn't seen anything like that in a while, especially in someone so young being compared to someone else that's quite a bit older than himself. She only shrugs it off, continuing to the pink haired girl that was also with them.

Sakura, who was taking as close to the back as she could, was different. She was confident, yet somewhat... nervous? That wasn't something that you normally see on someone like her. She shrugs it off, but continued to study. She was more medically advanced than the others, but could still fight. Thankfully she had more people around her to help, but she seems more than capable to handle herself, even if she were to be left alone in something like this.

The last was, obviously, Shikamaru. He seemed a little more laid back, but confident. He didn't really seem the kind to do a lot. She noticed that he was strong, but... that and laziness somewhat confused her. This was more concerning, but she didn't question it. She decided to let it go for the time, and would most likely question it a little later or so. Otherwise, she was keeping her mouth shut as they went along to their destination.

A few hours passed and they were making good time, they hadn't reached the boarder of the Land of Fire yet, but they were still fairly far. The three ninja holding the palaquin were taking their time, most likely due to the Princess that sat inside it. Shikimaru wondered a bit if she was so fragile that they had to keep her in, and again on why she was so important for Iwagakure. Still, being this slow was fine for him, and not seeing the enemy was also a plus; but for some people like Naruto, it wasn't too much like that. "We've got a good momentum going, but we should pick up the pace if we want to settle in a good area by nightfall." Of course, Kakashi sensei was the one that had spoken up. He seemed to be the good medium between the groups, and Shikimaru was glad that he didn't need to take the lead.
But his sentiment just earned a grunt from Shiro, who was holding the forefront of the palaquin. "We'll stop off at the nearest town." Kakashi sighed, and Shikimaru was able to understand why. If they stopped off at the nearest town, like Shiro suggested, they wouldn't get very far in a short amount of time; but Shikimaru could see the reluctance on Kakashi's face to speak up. It was important to keep peace.

A few hours passed again, and now it was a bit after sunset. The sun was casting pink and purple hues all over, and they had reached a small town which was over looked by a mountain. From what he could see, this town wasn't prominent with people, just a small place that held some shops, houses - and luckily for them - a hotel. The shinobi set the palaquin down outside of the hotel, "You ninja should stay here, we'll locate a room for Dobutsu-hime." Shikimaru sighed once they left, What a drag, we're going to have to do rotation tonight. Guess I won't be getting much sleep. He stood outside with the rest of Team Seven, their senses aware of their surroundings. "Kakashi-sensei, should one of us go in and check out the hotel?" Sakura had spoken up, gaining Kakashi's attention. "We'll go in after the Iwagakure shinobi say so."
Shikimaru let out another sigh, he'd rather be in the hotel room resting. His sight flickered to the palaquin, seeing an eye before it moved quickly away. If he had to guess, that'd be the Princess, but he didn't think too much of her trying to peek out at them.

Minutes later and the Iwagakure shinobi came back out, taking the Palaquin up in whole with them. Of course it was strange, why not just have the Princess get out herself, bringing the whole carriage wasn't necessary. But none of the Leaf shinobi spoke up, this must have been some Iwagakure custom; either that or the Princess was spoiled.
The Iwagakure and Leaf ninja were separated into two rooms, and just as Shikimaru thought, they would have to take rotation on staying awake and guarding. Kakashi and Sakura were the first to sleep, making Shikimaru and Naruto the guards. For the night watch, Naruto's fast reflexes would prove necessary, and Shikimaru could trap any enemies.

Their rooms were next to each other, and soon Shikimaru saw the light go off into the room after. He sighed, sitting up cross-legged and staring out the open window, wishing he was the one sleeping instead.

Throughout the whole journey, she could feel the shifting weight of the shinobi carrying her. Every step they made shuffled the palaquin just a bit, and Mina was hauled inside of it. The palaquin wasn't indestructible, it wasn't even durable; thus making it not necessary. But the elders of her village had insisted upon it. After all, she was the Dobutsu-hime.
Mina could hear everyone outside chatting, and although she knew what the ninja from her village looked like, she hadn't spotted the ones from the leaf yet; and of course that made her curious. But the girl fought back the urge to peek out, if she was caught by Shiro or the others trying to look out of the palaquin, she would undoubtedly receive a scolding. All Mina could do was wait, but the day was already beginning to feel so long.

No one had talked at all, the only exchanging of words she heard was from Shiro to the Leaf ninja. Every so often she would risk a peek out, moving a bit of cloth just to see outside. Even though she couldn't see everything, it was still wonderful.
Hours passed and the palaquin was finally rested, the Iwagakure ninja going into an inn to secure a room, this left her the perfect amount of time just to peer out at the Leaf ninja. Mina had to admit to herself, it was scary. She'd never been anywhere away from home before, and had never known war. There were times where she was in danger, but she'd never been mixed up into battle; yes, the Princess lived a sheltered life. But for her, it felt too sheltered.
Again, Mina moved a bit of cloth, her eye peeking out and seeing the Leaf shinobi for the first time. It was a group of four, the eldest obviously visible. She remembered hearing names when they were introducing themselves, but she wasn't able to put all those names to any of their faces. Of course, Mina thought she was being careful, examining them from inside the palaquin, but her eyes had crossed with Shikimaru and she quickly pulled back. Her shoulders rising up and tensing as she hugged her legs in the cramped space. So these are ninja.

Once Shiro and the others lifted her into the room, she was able to leave the palaquin, stretching herself out while looking around. The room was plain, consisting of just the tatami mat on the floor and paper doors. There were futon and a small table in the corner, but all the doors were closed so she wasn't able to see anything other than this bland room. With the futon's laid out, Shiro instructed her to get some rest, but the thought of going to sleep made her want to move around. She hadn't gotten to see the outside, how could she sleep? Reluctantly, Mina obeyed, and climbed under her futon. A few minutes later and the rest of them did as well, the lights turning off. But even though Mina was under the cotton, she was awake, her eyes looking into a corner of the room as she was unable to sleep.

Time passed, and Mina slowly sat up, inching her way out of the futon at a snail's pace. She didn't want to wake anyone in the room, less she would receive a scolding. Mina was able to stand, and walk quietly over to one of the paper doors, inching it open and going out. The hallway was bare, and looking eerily long at this time of night; but at the same time it was so exciting to be out, to have slipped past her own guards. She walked down the hallway, forgetting to keep silent, and went down the stairs. Of course the inn keeper was not at his desk, having gone to sleep himself, so she was able to step outside.
Everything shocked her at once, the moon was so bright, almost like a tiny sun. There were no clouds at this time, and the streets were completely bare, it was as if she was the only person awake in the whole country.

Mina didn't have any shoes on, her socks smudging against the gravel as she stepped out more into the street. Her head turned, eyes darting from one tender to another. This village had a flower shop, a tiny food stand, and she could see a small school. It was so exciting, refreshing even, that her lips couldn't help but upturn just a bit. Her head continually looking around, able to spot the mountain that wasn't too far away, and her pace quickened as she walked away from the inn and to the small forest on the other side.

Naruto waits with Shikamaru, also needing a well night's rest. He didn't mind the fact that he was doing something important, but he needed sleep as well. He just barely remembered the time schedule for him and the others, but he swore at a point that he accidentally dozed off for a minute or two, which he regrets, seeing how he promised to stay up for all of this.

After a while, he started examining the details of the hall. There were very few lights that were still on and lighting the hall, the only real source of light coming from the moon outside. The floor wasn't anything special, just regular wood that was polished every few days or so that shone from the lights and moon. The ceiling also had a few lanterns hanging, but the lights emitting from them were somewhat dim, only making it somewhat difficult to see, but not incredibly hard.

Nothing else was different, in his opinion. Everything else was the same as a few different inns he's seen in the past. He didn't mind, they all gave it a comfortable atmosphere, which didn't help the fact that he needed sleep. He glances at a clock down the hall to see if it was generally time for them to switch out for at least a little bit of sleep. He needed it, which is why he was thankful that it was, indeed, time for them to switch. He stands quietly to go and wake Shikamaru, knowing all too well that he was in need of it as well.

This down time was fine with Shikimaru, time was ticking by slowly and they weren't doing much of anything. It was an added bonus that there weren't any enemies either, but maybe that was because they hadn't traveled too far from the Leaf. Surely there would be some when they ventured out. The inn was still at night, no sounds were made unless you counted the snoring coming from the other room. Every so often you'd hear the trees being brushed by the wind, but nothing worth worry.
Time ticked on, and Shikimaru was still in a criss-cross position with his chin in his hand. After a moment he could feel a familiar hand on his shoulder, Naruto, who had stood up and gone over to Shikimaru to wake up the others and go switch. That was also when Shikimaru stood, going over to Kakashi first and bending down to touch his shoulder, but in midst of reaching down Shikimaru stopped. In that second he became alert, and he stood back up, leaving Kakashi sleeping on the floor. His head turned toward the direction of the door, "Naruto." Shikimaru's voice was stern, most likely enough so that it would alert Naruto that something was a miss.


Now Shikimaru was outside, having jumped out of the window. "Naruto, someone left the inn." He stood outside on the street now, looking down one side. "I can't tell where they've gone, or who it was, but it could have been anyone - including the Iwagakure double-spy." Shikimaru let out a sigh, something that he was so prone to do. His hand went up, brushing the area on the back of his neck. Now they had to actually do something, he wasn't how serious the situation was, should they wake up Kakashi? If he and Naruto could handle the situation, then the other team members weren't needed. "Let's look for them before anyone else wakes up."

Naruto followed right behind, knowing that this wasn't good. Who was trusted, he couldn't say. "Lead the way!" He says enthusiastically, waiting for him to go. He knew that they would also have to split up to actually find who got out. His last thought was the princess, but the double agent was more than possible. He didn't have any guesses himself, but he knew that there were very few suspects as to who could have gotten out. Guess we'll find out when we find them! He thought as he followed Shikamaru through the property, eventually into town.

They finally get to town a few minutes later, it being a lot more busy than he thought that it would be. There wasn't a lot of people, but very few people that were out slightly later than normal people would. From the distance they were at, he couldn't tell whether they were drunk or just out for a walk while they were half asleep. He didn't go any farther than that thought, seeing that they were out for a reason. "Where should we look first? I'll take any area you don't want." He suggests, looking around at the multiple areas they could look. He waits for an answer as he looked around, somewhat scared as to who it could be and what they could be doing out at this time.
