Mikey looked like he was done for. Riley was actually about to let him give up on the fight, when he waved his fists around at her, smacking her around a bit. Out of sheer instinct, she swatted him away, harder than she'd meant to. In fact, it was more of a slap than anything.

The slap was all it took, the boil still reeling after coming into contact with Riley's skull.
"I guess," he mumbled dazedly, "I can let you introduce me to the nurse, babe. Make sure you tell her I let you win..." He wobbled for a moment, then fell forward onto the ghoul, completely KO'd.
Whoa there- Riley caught the boil in her arms just as he passed out, and gave him a few seconds before accepting that he really was out (and not just trying to get up close and personal). Third boil this week.. She whispered to herself with a shake of her head, as she hefted Mikey up into her arms, and carried him out of the gym.
Was she a little smug about that fact?
No. No she was a lot smug about it.
But the thought of what Roland had done to her before her current lucky streak dampened her smugness awful fast, and she walked to the nurses office with her cargo in a tense, quiet, moody silence. It wasn't enough. It would never be enough, until she had that human's head on a pike. Until then.. she'd just keep carrying boils to the nurses office.
