Her next hit wasn't so crappy. She managed to at least damage her, though she knew there was plenty room for improvement. HP: 38 Damage: 5

At the FEAR attack, Ruth found things more amusing than frightening. Her eyes were wide in wonder and delight, not that it would be seen by anyone. Not with the bill of her cap and bangs in the way. She almost wanted to clap in appreciation.
The succeeding number of blows, however, that was reason for the reaper. And once mobility was hers, Ruth didn't use to jump away or put distance. She, instead, began to clap in congratulations. Whether it was genuine or out of mockery, it was up for debate.

Astra was used to having creeple mock her. It wasn't hard for her to believe that the reaper's clapping was that of laughter. She was convinced that this ghoul was mean spirited, and out to get her. Perhaps if she was a first year, she would be in strife. But at least she was able to take a few blows, even if it did hurt. Her wrist flicked, and she fired off another attack at Ruth as she muttered to herself about learning to aim properly... HP: 38 Damage: 3

Not that it would have done anything to placate the older ghoul, Ruth was actually genuinely applauding her strikes. Mostly because about time she got shown what the seniors were supposedly capable of. But then again, maybe this particular senior was the bookish sort? Better performance in tests and written exams?
Again, Ruth simply deflected one of the blades back at Astra, not because she was starting to feel the toll of numerous weak strikes adding up but because it just felt like the more appropriate retaliation. (Okay maybe slightly because despite the weak strikes they were adding up like jabs.)

It was at this point in time that the fairy began to think about how she was attacking, and how it wasn't having the effect she wanted. Astra wanted to slam her to the wall, not whittle her down with puny attacks, It then occurred to her that maybe she should do something completely different, instead of just throwing daggers at her. Sharp leaves appeared in both hands, but instead of throwing them she flew forwards in a blur, choosing to target her directly instead of from afar. She flew right past the ghoul, then turned to fight her exposed back. One arm slashed down with the small blade, then the other, before she flew upwards to see what damage had been done. The steel pipe was dismissed back into the aether as Ruth succumbed to the older ghoul's barrage of attacks. She pitched forward, her arms and knees barely breaking her fall. It wasn't that she was worried about her pride, far from it. The reaper wanted to turn on her back, she wanted to let the older ghoul see as the big, wide, utterly satisfied grin on her face.
Pain course through her back, causing her to wince but that was a small price to pay as far as Ruth was concerned. Still saying nothing, she pointed to Astra then her hand gestured turned into a thumb's up.
Nice one.
