Witch on Trial

Plot

The Salem witch trials were an iconic moment in history where a group of small girls condemned several people that signed the devils book and had dark plans for the town. It is thought that all the witches/wizards had been executed, along with several innocent people, but what they were unaware of was that one of the girls had also signed the devils book and was doing the other witches bidding. Years later that girl grew older and continued her family line, passing on her craft to other generations. Someday one of the descendants of that family will be chosen to bring back the witches of Salem allowing for them to seek revenge against descendants of the families that persecuted them and also to finish what they started long ago.

Sarah Evans, who lives only 11 hours away from Salem, takes art classes at the community college. She is seemingly an ordinary girl living an ordinary life, but one day she finds a spell book on her desk and quickly learns that she has a very extraordinary gift. She soon finds out that having this gift comes with a price and along the way she runs into a few witch hunters who make it their mission to take her down and stop her from potentially bringing an evil power into the world.

Name: Sarah Lee Evans

Age: 19 years old

Occupation: College student and a witch.

Hobbies: She is a very talented artist who works mainly with pencil, but she is also comfortable with using several other medias in art.

Personality: A very independent and spirited soul. She wants to get out of town and travel the world. She loves to draw and has several sketch books and paintings throughout her home. She is very curious much like a cat, but sometimes will get herself into trouble not just from curiosity, but with her unpredictable temper.

Background: Her mother died in a car accident when she was 14 years old and misses her very much. Now she lives alone with her father who she has a very strong relationship with and loves him very much. She lives a very simple ordinary life and is now taking classes at the Melrose University for an art degree. She has her own studio at her house which she spends most of her time in. She is a direct descendant of Sarah Good, a witch executed in Salem.

Post Preview: As she walked through downtown Melrose she gazed upon the scenery, taking in the rustic feel of the town she had lived in all her life. This town was especially beautiful in the fall with the trees changing different colors, like an artist brushing their paint brush across a colorless canvas bringing life to the painting. This was a scene that she would love to paint, but she was too busy today to do art.

She was at downtown for the purpose of applying for jobs. Sarah's father originally was helping to pay for her college classes, but now they were tight with money and she needed to get herself a part time job to continue her dream of being an artist. All day she had been riding bike across town, walking into several shops and restaurants asking if they were hiring, but every time they would look at her with that same expression as everyone else and apologized saying they had no positions available. She never felt frustration quite like this before.

Name: Michael Ray Evans
Age: 18
Occupation: High School Senior and Wizard
Hobbies: He's a skilled acrobat and runner, though he also loves to play music and write stories/songs.
Personality: An independent, friendly, and outgoing guy that enjoys to move, though he can be quite calm when playing music. He's agile on his feet and quick with a retort that can come off as often teasing and rarely sarcastic.
Background Michael grew up just like anyone else, though after his mother passed away due to a car accident when he was 13, he became somewhat withdrawn and turned to free running and martial arts to forget it. When he was 16, he was accepted into a two year music academy in Boston and has recently returned to his hometown of Melrose to reconnect with his sister and old friends.
Post Preview: Michael's brown eyes gazed out from behind the mirrored visor as he pulled in on his bike, slowing at a stop light. His helmet was a deep indigo with ghostly silver and navy flames on it. His gaze shifted as he noticed a young woman with long brown hair walking down the street with a sketchbook looking vividly around with a small smile on his face. A faint smirk played over his lips as he pulled up near her and spoke. "Damn, honey. If your art matches your body, then you'll have a very lucrative career," he teased; he wasn't sure if his sister would recognize him as he wore a black leather jacket with cargo jeans over his boots. A slight chuckle gave him away as he unbuckled the helmet's strap as he spoke. He knew his electric guitar was strapped to the back of his bike, though he was sure that musicians tended to come through town all the time.

MY FAVORITE COLOR IS NAVY BLUE -- any shade of blue, really...

Occupation: Witch Hunter and bartender
Hobbies: He likes to target practice, make mashed potatoes, and hunt witches
Personality: Calm, sadistic, bored when things are quiet, and he hates long silences
Background: His family used to be very influential till his parents and little brother were killed.He didn't find out till later that his family was killed to summon a monster.He took up hunting the monster and the witches that had summoned it.He took up being a bartender to fill in the time between hunting witches, which has made him quick triggered.

Post Preview: The night had been the usual, a couple men got drunk, fought and Gerard broke it up.They were the usual ones who'd get into a fight so when the police came around to pick them up, they weren't surprised.Well Gerard was walking home, tired from the night of serving drinks.You'd think after six months of being a bartender he'd have gotten used to the hours, but it seemed fate didn't bless him with a great adjustment to changing sleeping habits.

When he got to his apartment he almost slipped on some letters.He picked them up; one was from his family's financial adviser who had insisted on meeting him to discuss investing and s**t like that.The others were junk mail which he tossed, along with the adviser's letter.

Occupation: High school senior and Witch
Hobbies: She loves to read, and is often caught doing so.She's got a knack for writing as well, and secretly sings.
Personality: Shy and somewhat timid, she tends to keep to herself, more of an outcast even among her few friends.She's often someone people go to when they need help with a problem, or when they simply need someone to listen.
Background: Emily was raised by her grandmother from the age of six.Her mother died due to complications with her birth and her father passed away a few days after her birthday to unknown causes.Her grandmother is still living, and happy to embarrass her granddaughter at any given chance.All in all, Emily had a pleasant childhood dispite her close circle of friend splitting up a bit once they reached high school and college.

Post Preview: Emily hummed quietly to herself as she looked out the library window, her notebook lying open beneath her hand, the pages covered in an elegant yet odd sort of calligraphy.She was like a ghost to the library, mainly because she worked there most days after school.Seeing an elderly woman walk in, she gave a tiny smile "Afternoon, Mrs. Jacobs." The woman gave a half wave in turn before going off to look for some book or another, leaving Emily to her thoughts once more.

She stared out the window, closing her notebook and sighed slightly, wondering if she'd ever get out of the little town she called home.Glancing at the clock, she let out a tiny groan when she saw it was just past five, and like a little mockery, her work schedule was posted right under the clock saying she had another hour and a half to go.

Name: Helen Jane Good, goes by 'Nanna'
Age: 65
Occupation: Herbal shop owner and Emily's grandmother
Hobbies: Teaching her granddaughter the craft, selling remedies at her shop, and baking
Personality: Fun loving and seemingly care free.Helen is somewhat of a universal grandmother to the townsfolk, helping them if they need it and giving advice.She can be snippy when she gets irritated about something, but for the most part she's the average 'spoil the kids' grandma.
Background: The maternal grandmother of Emily Good, she took her granddaughter in after the death of her daughter and son in law.She's been the sort of record keeper of the family, especially when it came to the birth of a child, and of the grimoires and journals of the ancestors.She plans on teaching the others, if they so choose, as well as Emily, how to control their gifts.

Post Preview: Helen stood by the cash register in the little shop watching as the students passed by laughing about one thing or another.Emily was late for her lessons, and though she understood getting caught up in conversation, something worried her.She touched the small crystal hanging around her throat and waited, jumping slightly when Jinx, the small black Bombay kitten Emily had jumped onto the counter, startling her "You feel it too." The little creature stared at her for a moment, it's amber eyes slightly curious as it too turned to watch out the window.

Familiars were useful creatures to have, they gathered energy for spells and working so that living beings wouldn't be harmed.They also provided the stability of companionship when all else went wrong.Emily had found Jinx sitting in the flower garden on her way home from work a few weeks before, waiting patiently as if he'd known she'd come.Then proceeded to barrage her with pathetic sounding mews until she picked him up and brought him to her grandmother.And thus, the cat and old woman waited with mixed feeling for the little novice.

Personality: Quiet, calm, protective of friends and people he cares about.He also keeps grudges for a long time.
Background: His family had lived in Melrose for his early years of life, long enough for him to become friends with Michael.But at the time he didn't know why they moved, until he became 15 years old.When he learned that his mother was part of a coven and didn't want him getting mixed ideas as she taught him.His family is now returning to Melrose, now that he's trained and less susceptible to other coven's ideas.
Post Preview: Chris had fallen asleep on the four hour road trip to their new house, which was basically their old one but, they hadn't lived in it since they left.He was woken up by the car stopping in front of the tall dark red house, the yard was over grown and a series of vines grew up one side of the house.
He got out and started to carry what boxes they put into the car as his mother opened up the house.As he came in the smell of the house brought a small smile to his face as it reminded him of his younger childhood.
