Autumn had begun to settle in already over the past few weeks...slowly the trees had dropped their leaves, and the skies had earned their break from sun, to laze in grayness. The air was crisp and cool, as autumn should be, and the swamp had changed, as it always did with the seasons. Though many in the swamp knew little or nothing about snow, the sky was now threatening it.

The barren trees shivered in the chilly wind that came down into the swamp, and the trees that had not dropped their leaves did the same. It was a great Cedar that stood in the midst of a clearing, surrounded by thick, lush grass that rippled like waves in the wind. It was famed by many travellers and herbalists to have magical healing bark, but it was difficult to find. This huge ancient tree that sat on it's own in a mess of so many...it just had to be special.

On an unusually clear and sunny autumn morning, there had been a slight dusting of snow the previous night. The giant Cedar sat still in it's forest throne, though the lush grasses around it had been softly tucked beneath the clustered white crystals. Though through the snow, and through those bare trees, t'was still to be seen: the orange glow, with mossy green, of Cedar Bark.

And though the magical tree is not oft' visited, it is always alive and well, waiting to share its wisdom and good health.
