[FIN] Down Time

Yuri blinked at her reply then shrugged. "Then don't," he told her plainly. "It's your decision and nobody is going to make you."

Of course that didn't mean her decision might have repercussions either way. But Dove was an adult and he wasn't going to press her into talking if she didn't want to. This wasn't a life or death thing from what he could tell.

His easy dismissal was all she needed and she found herself shaking her head, then moving closer to him and resting her head on his shoulder, closing her eyes and desperately hoping he wouldn't push her away. "Can I be selfish tonight?" she asked almost desperately, refusing to let the voice in her head telling her how awful she was to take control. She needed to be close to him while she could...needed to feel his heartbeat, needed his warmth while it lasted. Anything to keep her anchored to someplace far from home for now.

As she put her head on his shoulder he didn't move or say anything. He hardly seemed fazed by it at all, as if this was a normal thing.

However, there was a pause before he replied to her.

"Sure," he said softly.

She relaxed when he gave her permission and carefully wrapped her arms around him, saying no more. He wasn't one for cuddling except for on 'special' occasions, and she was glad he was allowing this much at least.

In her silence, her heart raced, her thoughts still at war. She would find a way to tell him. She had to...

With her arms now around him, Yuri tried to make himself more comfortable. Shifting the way he sat so that her body didn't press against his sore spot and pulling his arm out from between them to drape across the back of the sofa.

He said not a word, his eyes watching the flickering flame of the fire until he closed again.

As he shifted, she moved with him,l to make it easier, settling down with him with her head now on his chest instead. Her eyes again closed, and she breathed deeply, soaking up the warmth of someone who cared and had the kindness not to refuse her in a moment of weakness.

In the stillness of the room and the comfortable company, she slowly drifted off, exhausted.

Now warm and comfortable it didn't take long for Yuri to drift off either. The crackle of the fire and the soft blinking of lights also helping to lull him to sleep. Finally getting the undisturbed rest he had been looking for.
